NetherRealm has just given us our first look at Madam Bo’s gameplay in Mortal Kombat 1. Here, we can get a taste of how she’ll play as a Kameo fighter, including a look at her unique fatality.
Better yet, the fatality is almost definitely a nod to Sam Raimi’s first Spider-Man movie – albeit with a decapitation thrown in there for good measure. All in all, she certainly isn’t messing around, and fans appear to be pleased with her moves so far.
Mortal Kombat 1’s Latest Kameo Fighter Has A Surprising Spider-Man Reference
This is our first look at Madam Bo’s gameplay in Mortal Kombat 1
Madam Bo was confirmed for the Khaos Reigns wave of DLC earlier this week. As a Kameo, she will not be a playable fighter, but she can be paired with anyone on the roster for some abilities mid-match. And, of course, you’ll gain a new fatality with her.

Mortal Kombat 1 Needs More Gaming Guest Characters
Mortal Kombat often celebrates its history with action and horror icons, but gaming is part of that legacy too.
In this case, the fatality is almost definitely a reference to a scene from the first Spider-Man movie, in which Peter Parker uses his newfound abilities to catch Mary Jane from falling, and perfectly catches everything on her lunch tray after it goes flying into the air. Also, while I’m sure everyone alive knows this fact already, I want to say it anyway: this scene does not use special effects and took 156 takes to pull off.
Something else that fans are picking up on is that some of her moves are reminiscent of Bo’ Rai Cho, a character who is yet to appear in the Mortal Kombat 1 timeline. True enough, some of her moves involve alcohol, as she bashes an opponent over the head with a bottle of wine – and even passes one to the player to drink.
Madam Bo will join the roster on March 18. She’s part of the Khaos Reigns expansion, so if you’ve already picked that up, she’ll be added to your game for no extra cost. Otherwise, you’ll be able to buy her separately.
