- Kaisel will aid Sung Jinwoo in battling flying ants in the Jeju Island arc.
- Solo Leveling Season 2 will end with the Jeju Island arc, no need to extend into season 3.
Ever since Sung Jinwoo gained the ability to raise fallen enemies as Shadows, his overall strength has gone up a notch. After Igris, Sung Jinwoo awakened Iron, Tank, and Tusk. Even though it is an impressive lineup, Sung Jinwoo has no qualms about adding more powerful Shadows, and that’s exactly what the hero did in the latest episode of Solo Leveling.
In Solo Leveling Season 2 Episode 9, Sung Jinwoo used his power to turn the wyvern used by Baran into a Shadow and named it Kaisel. The official X (formerly Twitter) account of Solo Leveling even shared a new visual to celebrate the hero gaining a new Shadow.

Solo Leveling and Shangri-La Frontier released a collaborative visual as they both enter new arcs.
Sung Jinwoo’s Kaisel Will Serve Him Well
Kaisel will be an invaluable addition to Sung Jinwoo’s army because it is the only Shadow capable of flying. It will allow Sung Jinwoo to cover large areas in a short time. Additionally, it will make it difficult to hit him.
The addition of Kaisel to the lineup comes at the right time as the Korean and Japanese Hunters are heading to Jeju Island to destroy the ants. In Season 2 Episode 8, it was revealed that the Hunters from the two countries would launch an offensive to stop the ants from laying waste to cities. Since the ants have developed the ability to fly, it will be difficult for a physical attacker to hit them unless they too have a way to go airborne.
Luckily, Sung Jinwoo will have no such problems as he has Kaisel. He can fly on the Shadow and bring down the ants. It is also possible that he might allow other Hunters to ride Kaisel so that they can deal with the monsters as well.
The Jeju Island Arc Will Be The Best Arc Yet
The Jeju Island arc is being hyped up as the best arc of the anime, mainly because the stakes are way higher than anything else. Goto Ryuji is sending ten S-rank Hunters to Jeju Island, and they will be joined by several S-rank Hunters from Korea. Considering how dangerous the ants are, some of the S-rank Hunters might not make it back in one piece.
Solo Leveling has four more episodes left, and they will cover all 17 chapters, meaning the Jeju Island arc will end in season 2. There is no reason for A-1 Pictures to stretch the arc unnecessarily into the third season when they can wrap up the arc in the same season.
