Upgrading Your Armor in Monster Hunter Wilds
If you’re wondering how to upgrade your armor in Monster Hunter Wilds, and can’t see an option to do so, the simple answer may be that you’ve not yet unlocked the option. Upgrading armor, and the accompanying items to do so, don’t become available until a few hunts into the story, around the start of the second Monster Hunter Wilds Chapter.
You’ll need to make sure you’ve made it to Azuz, The Everforge, at least to unlock the ability to upgrade armor. That’s the village in the Oilwel Basin in case you’re wondering.

Once you’ve unlocked the ability to upgrade armor, you’ll be able to do so using Armor Spheres. First go to the blacksmith, Gemma, and ask to upgrade your armor. Then, you’ll be able to use Armor Spheres of all types to upgrade your armor. Armor can be upgraded multiple levels, with Low Rank armor having lower limits, and High Rank armor giving you more options to upgrade.
However, be wary – you may not want to sink all your Armor Spheres into Low Rank armor. That’s any armor you craft during the first three chapters of the game. Instead, it may be better to tough it out and wait until high rank to bother upgrading your armor. Armor Spheres are a limited commodity.

How to get Armor Spheres in Monster Hunter Wilds
If you find yourself low on Armor Spheres in Monster Hunter Wilds there’s a few ways to obtain them. They can be acquired as rewards from hunts, unlocked with limited quests, and melded. Still, they’re not exactly super common, so making sure you use them only on armor you’re sure you want to upgrade is definitely worth doing.
