How To Recruit The Minato Girls To Your Crew In LaD: Pirate Yakuza In Hawaii

As is pretty typical for the series, Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza In Hawaii features a long list of substories. However, The My Dream Minato Girl is, without question, the most elaborate substory in the game. Well, it isn’t really one substory; it is a series of substories. There are seven in total, actually.

With the release of Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, there’s a new side story in town. But is it better than The Man Who Erased His Name?

And what does it end with? A live-action dating show featuring Masaru that is around half an hour in length. No, we aren’t joking. But that’s not all, it will also provide you with six new members for your pirate crew, so it is definitely worth the hassle! We’ll tell you where to go, and what to do in order to complete this substory as efficiently as possible.

My Dream Minato Girl Substory Walkthrough

The Minato Girl substory line begins in the third chapter after you’ve fought Saejima on Nele Island. As you are heading back to Honolulu, you’ll find Masaru’s journal. This will kick off the My Dream Minato Girl substory. Continue forward with the mainline story missions. Once you have beaten Kobayashi in the main story, you’ll be given the ‘Ask Kei and the bartender about Minato Girls’ objective.

Head back to Revolve, talk to Kei, and you’ll be introduced to Machiko-san. To kick things off, you’ll need to pay her $10,000 dollars. Once you do, Machiko-san will give you a rundown on five Minato girls, and you’ll complete the My Dream Minato Girl Substory. You’ll have access to five substories spread across Honolulu now. Each corresponds to another Minato Girl.

The Lovely Traveler Substory Walkthrough

The Lovely Traveler substory is on the second floor of the Anaconda Shopping Center, in the section of the mall with the giant snake and the stage. In order to talk to Ai you’ll need to purchase Ai’s Photobook for $30. After getting pulled away early, you’ll need to buy another for $30, and then, you’ll need to commit to buying ten for a total of $300.

Don’t worry, your money won’t be wasted. Ai’s Photobook can actually be given as a gift to your crew members, and you receive every copy you pay for.

After being pulled away a third time, you’ll fight three ruffians who are trying to talk to Ai. These are the very standard forms of goons you’ll encounter walking around, so they won’t offer a real challenge. Ai will thank you for intervening, you’ll show her around Rich Island, and then you will have to fight another group – this time of five pirates.

Thankfully, Ai will help you fight them off (using her trusty sniper rifle). Once again, they aren’t anything special. With that, Ai will thank you, take a selfie with you, and you’ll complete the Lovely Traveler substory.

Hello, World! Substory Walkthrough

You’ll encounter Misoshi in the arcade on the first floor of the Anaconda Shopping Center. Upon arriving, a fight will break out, and you’ll need to de-escalate it by bludgeoning the troublemaker. Misoshi will then invite you to stream with her.

Head to Revolve, and you will start the stream. When streaming, you will need to respond on the fly. You will be able to choose from a number of responses (the amount changes), each associated with a certain level of enthusiasm. If you don’t pick something in time, you will respond with silence. What option you choose does matter in this substory.

When you are being introduced, choose the “I’m the one they call captain Ma-z-ma!” option. When you land a bog combo, you’ll want to select the Very happy

option. When you lose via a ring out, shoose the Frustration option. And, finally, when it is time to pop off your only option will be “I’m a fightin’ game leeeeeeegend!”

If you choose all those responses, you’ll receive the S Ring. If you decide to explore the other options, you will get a Double Silver Ring instead. Either way, you’ll complete the Hello, World! substory and get Misoshi’s contact info.

The Truth Substory Walkthrough

Majima taking a picture with Seiko in Like A Dragon Pirate Yakuza in Hawaiii.

You’ll find Seiko in the downtown area, near the northernmost fountain. She’ll come up and talk to you, agree to take her to the Dragon Kart stadium, and you’ll begin the substory. After taking her to the Dragon Kart stadium, you are free to put the substory on hold. Seiko will hang out there until you return. You’ll now race in Dragon Kart.

You are not rewarded for winning the race. It doesn’t matter if you come in first or last, nothing changes.

After you race, she’ll ask if you want to get a few drinks, agree to go drinking with her and after a few cutscenes, you’ll get into a fight outside her hotel. You’ll be fighting four thugs, with the leader having a knife and going into heat mode during the battle. However, Seiko will fight alongside you, and she throws literal bombs. Once you finish them off, you’ll watch another cutscene and then get Seiko’s contact information – that will conclude the Truth substory!

#MyNewFriend Substory Walkthrough

Head to the pool at the Aloha Crystal Resort. You’ll find Ena having her picture taken by the pool. She’ll run off soon after. Head to the east side of Waikiki Street (you can take the Makani St. taxi). You’ll find Ena being harassed by three guys at the Ahi Poke Garden. Beat them up. These three aren’t tough, but one of them does like to grab, so watch out for that. After that, the two of you will talk, and she’ll ask you how you would deal with unwanted attention. Your options are…

  • “I’d ignore it.”
  • “I’ll knock every one of them out.”
  • “I’d make sure they pay the price.”

It doesn’t matter which option you choose, the result will be the same. She’ll tell you she is heading to Polaris. Be a very normal person and follow her there. After being refused entry, Majima will find a mask, bust into the place, and you’ll fight off three thugs. All three are standard brawlers, none of them are particularly tough. You’ll now obtain Ena’s contact information and complete the #MyNewFriend substory.

Can You Keep A Secret? Substory Walkthrough

Majima taking a picture with Kaho in Like A Dragon Pirate Yakuza in Hawaiii.

Head to the hotel on Seaside Ave. You’ll see Kaho leaving a car and immediately be confronted by her bodyguards. You’ll have three dialogue choices when asked why you are there…

“Leader of the Goro Pirates, at ya service!”

“I only came to present an invitation.”

“I’m… I don’t even know.”

No matter what option you choose, they will attack you. These three aren’t particularly tough. Two of them are standard, wide-swinging fighters, and one of them is a grappler. After beating them, Majima will tell Kaho about the gathering. She’ll be noncommittal and leave.

Head to the Hyper Ecstacy shop in the Cultural District – you can take the Twilight Dr. taxi to get there quickly. You’ll see Kaho looking at the display case filled with kinky things. Talk to her to continue the substory. After startling her, she’ll ask if you saw everything. You can answer “yeah” or “no”. It doesn’t matter which option you choose.

After talking to Kaho for a bit, a group of four people will confront you. You’ll need to put them down. There is a boxer and grappler in this batch, but they don’t hit that hard and they don’t have much HP. Once you’ve beaten them up, you’ll get Kaho’s contact information and complete the Can You Keep A Secret substory.

The One Substory Walkthrough

Masaru wagging his finger with a smug look on his face in Like A Dragon Pirate Yakuza in Hawaiii.

Once you have completed all the Minato Girl substories, you’ll acquire The One substory. Head back to Revolve, talk to Machiko-san and brace yourself: things are about to get weird. Once you gather Seiko, Ai, Kaho, Misoshi, and Ena, you’ll need to sell them on Masaru, you’re options are…

  • “He’s a blast to hang out with!”
  • “He’s strong as an ox!”
  • “He’s great at cookin’! Husband material!”
  • “He’s damn serious about findin’ love!”

However, this is just for flavor. What you say doesn’t appear to change anything. Once everyone is pumped to meet Masaru, tell Machiko-san you are ready to begin, and buckle up. After having a talk with Masaru, you’ll now be watching an entire dating show: Masaru’s Love Journey. Partway through the first episode, Masaru will call Majima and you can reply with one of three answers…

  • “Toss out some killer pick-up lines one-on-one!”
  • “Sell ’em on yer overflowin’ charm!”
  • “Make ’em bust up laughin’!”

Predictably, we tried all three choices, but it didn’t appear to change anything. Once you’ve finished the opening episode, you’ll return to Revolve, where everyone looks pretty down in the dumps. You’ll now need to talk to Ai, Ena, Seiko, Kaho, and Mishoshi in that order. Once you have done that, you’ll witness the finale. You can choose which of the Minato Girls ‘wins’, but no matter who you choose the result will be the same.

Just in case you want to pace yourself, Masaru’s Love Journey’s introductory episode is seven-minutes long, Ai’s episode is five minutes long, Ena’s episode is five minutes and 30 seconds long, Seiko’s episode is five minutes and thirty five seconds long, Kaho’s episode is four minutes and 55 seconds long, Mishoshi’s episode is four minutes and 13 seconds long, and the finale is just around a minute-long.

After you have watched all the episodes, all there is left to do is just witness the conclusion of this unique line of substories, and you’ll have Ai, Ena, Seiko, Kaho, Mishoshi, and Machiko-san join your crew!
