Gorgon Deck Synergies
- Master Mold, Black Widow, Rockslide, and Korg generate disruption, amplifying Gorgon’s effect.
- Iceman, Maximus, and Spider-Ham manipulate your opponent’s hand, leaving them with fewer cards to play.
- Mobius M. Mobius is a tech card that protects your side from Cost-targeting attacks.
- Moonstone and Mystique duplicate your disruptive Ongoing effects.
- Ronan is your win condition, growing stronger the more cards remain in your opponent’s hand.
How to Play Gorgon Effectively
Gorgon’s ability will likely change in the upcoming patches. The new effect will probably read: “Your opponent’s created cards cost one more (maximum 6).” With this in mind, those looking to run Gorgon should prepare for this OTA. It’s unclear whether this change will affect the synergy between Gorgon and disruptive card generators like Black Widow or Korg, but it’s something to keep in mind when building your Gorgon deck.
For the best strategy, Gorgon excels when you multiply its effect. Combos like Gorgon-Moonstone into Mystique can create some of the most impactful Cost and Energy disruptions. You’ll also want to enhance Gorgon’s disruption with cards like Iceman or Spider-Ham, which can push your opponent into retreating.
How to Counter Gorgon
The two main counters to Gorgon are Devil Dinosaur and Mobius M. Mobius. Devil Dinosaur can turn the threat of a full hand into an advantage, growing stronger as you accumulate more cards. Mobius M. Mobius, on the other hand, counters Gorgon’s attempts to raise your cards’ Cost, pushing back against the disruption.
Is Gorgon a Good Card?
Gorgon could have been one of the most powerful tech cards in Marvel SNAP‘s history if it had been released during the Arishem meta. That said, he’s still a viable option against Arishem-like decks. However, the current metagame isn’t centered around card generation, even with recent additions like Victoria Hand, which booms in this archetype.
It’s also worth noting that Gorgon is a free card. You can obtain it by participating in Marvel SNAP’s Sanctum Showdown, making it a valuable addition to your collection. In other words, there’s no harm in picking up this tech card and holding onto it for a potential Arishem-dominant future.
