When it comes to drag racing in Forza Horizon 5, these cars are easily the best choices if players can afford to get them.

As previously confirmed, the base PS5 version of Forza Horizon 5 will have Performance and Quality modes. The Performance mode is set to run at 60fps, while the Quality mode runs at 30fps but with higher fidelity. The enhancements on PS5 Pro will still retain these two modes, however, players will notice substantial boosts depending on which option is selected. The Performance mode will see an uplift in visual fidelity, while the Quality mode adds ray tracing to car reflections. As a comparison, the Xbox Series X has the same two options as the base PS5 model, meaning on paper, the PS5 Pro will be the most complete experience for Forza Horizon 5 on console.

For PlayStation 5 Pro owners, it will be great to hear they will be getting the best out of Playground Games’ popular racing game when it releases. Within the wider PlayStation ecosystem, there is an appetite for the Xbox-published game, with Forza Horizon 5 topping the PlayStation Store charts on preorders alone.

While fans may be excited to see another Microsoft-exclusive release on PlayStation, they may be disappointed to learn that there are no plans for a physical edition of Forza Horizon 5 on PS5. The game did see a disc release for Xbox consoles in 2021, so whether Playground Games or Xbox Game Studios reconsiders this stance down the line remains to be seen. It does seem that with a wider shift to digital distribution, for now at least, Forza Horizon 5 will stay digital-only on PlayStation 5.

Forza Horizon 5 is the latest Xbox-published game to be released on rival consoles, and it won’t be the last. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is set for a PS5 release, with rumors circulating that it could also see a release in April 2025. As there are no official confirmations, this would have to be taken with a pinch of salt for the moment, as it would mean MachineGames’ action-adventure would be released during a busy month for PlayStation fans.
