Summary

  • Omega Shenron is the ultimate enemy feared in Dragon Ball GT due to his near-invinsible power and ultimate threat to humanity.
  • Omega Shenron’s possession of all seven shadow dragon powers makes him an overwhelming force with a sadistic mind and great strength.
  • Despite his power and abilities, Omega Shenron falls short when faced with Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta’s unmatched strength and teamwork.

None of the dragons that appear in Dragon Ball GT are more feared than the near-invincible ultimate enemy known as Omega Shenron. Initially arriving on the scene as Syn Shenron, a shocking power-up during an intense battle helped the beast rise to even greater levels of strength. Compared to his previous form, Omega Shenron’s power was unmatched and incomparable to anything seen before in the Dragon Ball universe, serving as the biggest threat to humankind.

Possessing the power of all seven shadow dragons after consuming the dragon balls, Omega Shenron’s sheer power is enough to make any foe quake. A massive and intimidating physique paired with a sadistic mind and sinister grin make Omega Shenron one of the most dangerous monsters anyone dares to take on.

Omega Shenron’s Role in Dragon Ball GT

The Seventh Shadow Dragon

Syn Shenron in Dragon Ball GT Omega Shenron

While his debut in Dragon Ball GT doesn’t occur until Episode 57, “The One-Star Dragon”, the threat of the shadow dragons looms after the Black Smoke Dragon consumes the corrupted dragon balls, separating them into the seven shadow dragons. Of the evil dragons birthed by this event, none compare in strength to Syn Shenron. With a merciless nature and a lust for destruction, Syn Shenron makes it clear that his ambition for domination will not be stopped, regardless of who gets in his way, as evident by his slaying of Nuova Shenron.

Despite harnessing a power great enough to match that of GokThu at full power, Syn Shenron is not satisfied with the knowledge that he can become even stronger. Swallowing the seven corrupted dragon balls, Syn Shenron transforms into Omega Shenron, the ultimate dragon of Dragon Ball GT. Although his appearance doesn’t change much, save for the corrupted dragon balls protruding from his chest and abdomen, Omega Shenron is far superior in this form and poses as the greatest threat to Goku.

Even His Syn Shenron Form is Terrifying

Omega Shenron Dragon Ball GT Goku

In his original form, Syn Shenron was capable of vaporizing a fellow shadow dragon with just blasts, the same dragon that was giving Goku a run for his money. His overwhelming size and strength is enough to intimidate the strongest fighter, but it’s not the only thing Omega Shenron has going for him. Possessing a cunning battle intellect, Omega Shenron mixes his size and brute strength with an awareness that is unmatched, making him hard to catch and harder to get up from when he strikes.

Unfortunately for those looking to protect the world, his final form of Omega Shenron turns everything up tenfold. With the power of the corrupted dragon balls inside his vessel, Omega Shenron gains a nearly invincible body and a power that feels almost limitless. It’s enough to push Goku to the brink and give him a sense of hopelessness, an accomplishment that not many villains have reached during their battles with the greatest Saiyan warrior.

Omega Shenron’s Abilities and Techniques

What Makes Omega Shenron Special?

  • Flight – Like many of the characters in Dragon Ball, Omega Shenron can fly.
  • Nova Star – Similar to Goku’s 10x Kamehameha.
  • Trap Shooter – Omega Shenron gathers energy in the form of green and yellow spheres, and fires them at his opponent. The spheres are capable of tracking the target.
  • Annihilation Gun – A high-intensity wave of yellow energy fired from one hand, with the other hand holding the arm for support.
  • Gigantic Blaze – Using his right hand, Omega Shenron creates an explosive blast from underneath his opponent.
  • Eye Laser – If blasts from his hands weren’t enough, Omega Shenron is also capable of firing of lasers from his eyes.
  • Power Abduction – In his Syn Shenron form, he is capable of swallowing the corrupted dragon balls and absorbing the powers and abilities from all shadow dragons.
  • Aftershock – Taken from Naturon Shenron, Omega Shenron places his hand on the ground and creates an explosive blast.
  • Dragon Thunder – Taken from Rage Shenron, Omega Shenron is able to control the clouds above and send electric shocks towards his enemies.
  • Electric Slime – Also taken from Rage Shenron, this attack launches sticky slime that can electrocute anything it attaches to.
  • Regeneration – Alternatively, the slime also has the ability to regenerate Omega Shenron’s body, regardless of its state.
  • Heat Armor – Taken from Nuova Shenron, his body can rise drastically in temperature, creating a surface that is as hot as the sun and providing Omega Shenron with an impenetrable shield.
  • Nova Death Ray – Omega Shenron has the ability to harness the heat from the sun and use it to blast a ray of fire at his opponent.
  • Mighty Hurricane Fury – Taken from Oceanus Shenron, Omega Shenron can create a hurricane that engulfs anything in its path, and also has the ability to increase the speed of the hurricane to inflict more damage.
  • Whirlwind Spin – Using his hands to form signals, Omega Shenron can manipulate the hurricane’s speeds to create sharp winds with the capability of slashing through skin and bone.
  • Super Ice Ray – Taken from Eis Shenron, Omega Shenron’s eyes can fire off beams of ice that freeze anything it touches.
  • Arcane of the Shadow Dragons – Using a combination of many shadow dragon attacks, Omega Shenron rushes his opponent while in his heat armor, freezes the opponent in place, and then sends a barrage of hurricane and thunderbolt attacks towards his helpless foe.

Omega Shenron’s Battle Legacy

Falling Short Despite Showing Promise

Despite matching the power of both Super Saiyan 4 Goku and Vegeta, destroying a shadow dragon with two attacks, and bringing the Earth to its knees, Omega Shenron still had his limits. While he put of a fight to the very end, he was simply no match for Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta — the fusion between Goku and Vegeta while in their Super Saiyan 4 form. Not only was Omega Shenron outclassed by the fusion fighter, he was embarrassed to the point of desperation.

In his fit of rage, Omega Shenron had grown careless, allowing his heightened emotional state to become distracted with Vegeta and the many Z Fighters taking him on. While toying with the surplus of fighters engaging in battle, Goku was left to his own to build up the ultimate Spirit Bomb by gathering the energy from several universes. Omega Shenron had the ability to regenerate, but the massive power and force of the Spirit Bomb was enough to vaporize Omega Shenron to beyond the point of his regeneration. Yet another tale of an almighty powerful force succumbing to the bond of resilient fighters putting their lives on the line to save Earth.
