Summary
- Baldur’s Gate 3 fans really want to be able to bring Hyena back to camp, who can be saved from his abusive goblin owners in Act 2.
- They also took the opportunity to share which other animals they wished they could bring back, with Biscotti and His Majesty both mentioned.
Baldur’s Gate 3 has a bunch of adorable animal companions that you can bring back to your camp to liven the place up. You have the bestest boy in the world in Scratch, the Owlbear Cub from Act 1, and the lovable and rugged Halsin, who can be saved from the Goblin Camp. He can turn into a bear, it totally counts.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Is Still Doing Fighter Wrong
Larian has added Arcane Archer to the game instead of several much better Fighter subclasses.
Unfortunately, there are a lot more lovely animal friends that you can meet (and possibly speak with) on your travels that you can’t bring back to your camp, and it can be painful to just leave them behind. One such example is the Hyena that you can meet in the Shadow-Cursed Lands in Act 2, who is on the verge of being used as an experiment by a nasty little goblin called Gronag to see whether the shadow curse is as dangerous as the tales.
After dealing with Gronag, you can then talk to the Hyena if you have Speak with Animals, and subsequently find out that his goblin owners regularly abuse him. You can try and convince him to run away, but you can’t adopt the poor little guy yourself.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Fans Share The Animals They Want To Bring Back To Camp
Let Us Give The Good Boy A Home
Baldur’s Gate 3 fans on Reddit recently brought up the topic of Hyena, as a user called Sjc9624 made a post upset at the fact that they couldn’t adopt this Hyena as their own. They also shared that their biggest “complaint” with the game is that they can’t have a camp zoo for all the animals they meet, which convinced people to share the animals they wish they could adopt into camp.
Hyena is a strong favorite, with a user called MoirasTogepi16 admitting that they “burned all my inspiration to convince this precious thing to leave”. Another user says that they want to bring the likes of Biscotti, His Majesty, and that one posh pig from Act 3 back to the camp, while a user called Rymurf wishes they could save the wolves in the Githyanki Creche.
Unfortunately, these are all animals that can’t be brought back, at least without mods, though maybe it’s for the best in Biscotti’s case, as he does have a loving owner. It also may be best not to bring so many animals back, because as one user points out, we may never want to leave camp again with so many good boys to hang out with.
