Summary
- As it turns out, wild-shaped owlbears in Baldur’s Gate 3 sit exactly like humans.
- They look less like giant, imposing ursine and more like dudes in fur suits, chilling and enjoying the vibes.
You’d think that, even as a wild-shaped owlbear, you’d struggle with climbing ladders… sitting on thrones… Y’know, things you don’t normally see giant, ungainly ursine do. Not in Baldur’s Gate 3.
When you’re wild-shaped, at least as an owlbear, you can still perform human acts (as pointed out by u/ADHD-Fens). In fairness, bears sometimes sit like people, and there are plenty of pictures of them chilling at picnic benches, but there’s something unsettling about an owlbear sitting upright on a giant bone throne. They look more like someone in a fur suit than they do a Dungeons & Dragons critter.
One commenter even shared a picture of three owlbears sitting on stools together, and it’s terrifying. They don’t fit. But it is an enticing excuse to redownload Baldur’s Gate 3 and try an all-druid run just to see how weird things can get.
Wild-Shaped Animals Can Even Lie In Bed
Speaking of weird, let’s talk about beds! Each animal has its own animation for lying down, and it varies from adorable and outright terrifying to strangely suggestive.
Spiders spread their eight, gangly, disgusting legs across the entire bed; wolves roll onto their sides like big cuddly dogs; cats curl up by the pillows; ravens lie down and rest their heads; and dinosaurs? Just imagine the ‘paint me like one of your French girls’ pose, but with a raptor from Jurassic Park ready to rip your throat out.
Like with everything in Baldur’s Gate 3, a lot of thought clearly went into wild-shaping, and some the animations are downright adorable. But owlbears sitting perfectly upright will never not be hilarious.
