- Skills level up as they’re used
- The higher the level a skill has, the more options that are unlocked for it
Since it was released in 2011, The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim has been one of the best medieval fantasy RPGs out there. Not only does it feature a very interesting narrative, tons of likable NPCs, and captivating main and side quests, but it also has one of the most complex and complete skill trees to have ever been developed.
There’s a total of 18 skills, which are subdivided into three main categories: Magic, Combat, and Stealth. As players use each skill, their character will level up, and so will the skill that was used. For example, if players have lockpicked many chests and doors in an hour, their Lockpicking skill level will likely increase and unlock better options for them. The same goes for combat, so defeating a powerful enemy using a melee weapon, for example, will likely increase players’ One or Two-Handed Weapon Fighting skill.
