A new trailer highlighting Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles 2‘s Entertainment District Arc has confirmed a release date of August 5 for every console except for the Switch, which will come at a later date.
We’re only a few months into the year, but it’s already looking like 2025 is going to be a killer time for anime video games. This month sees the long-awaited launch of Bleach: Rebirth of Souls, while Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact will be bringing the Marvel vs. Capcom vibes towards the start of July.

As exciting as those two are, though, there’s one anime game that’s even more interesting – Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles 2. We’ve been waiting a while for CyberConnect2 to continue the excellent Ultimate Ninja Storm-esque start it made in 2021, but the sequel was finally announced just a few months ago.
Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles 2 Launches On August 5
Even though it’s not been that long at all since the first trailer for The Hinokami Chronicles 2 was revealed and promised a launch in 2025, we already have another trailer that’s cemented a release date of August 5. The new trailer, which focuses on the Entertainment District Arc, shows a bunch of new footage compared to the relatively slim announcement we got in December.
Beyond showing off how cinematic The Hinokami Chronicles 2’s battles are going to be and how well it’s going to adapt the visuals of the anime and manga, the trailer also seems to show off a bigger focus on exploration. At one point, Tanjiro is seen jumping across rooftops in the Entertainment District, which looks a bit more open and explorable than the areas in the first game.
The trailer also shows a lot more blood than I was expecting, with it opening on an injured Tanjiro with blood dripping down his eyes. It’s a far cry from Sparking Zero’s more friendly approach, I’ll say that much.
We also get a few clips showing Inosuke and Zenitsu as playable characters in the story mode, which makes sense considering they were in the first game. The Entertainment District Arc trailer ends by showing the jaw-dropping fight between Tanjiro, Tengen, and Gyutaro, which looks spot-on to the anime.
Interestingly, the official Twitter page for Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles put a caveat on the release date, as it was confirmed that the Nintendo Switch version of the game won’t be launching in August. We’ll find out for sure when to expect it on handhelds (likely including the Switch 2) at a later date.
