The second day of the playoff stage of VALORANT Masters Bangkok was filled with surprises for many as Team Vitality lost to T1 and was knocked out of the tournament. Following the game, both teams joined the international media houses in the press conference. When Team Vitality arrived, one thing was clear. None of them were happy with the result at all. There were moments where Derke could be seen with his hands on his face. At that moment, it seemed like one of the best duelists in the world knew that his performance wasn’t good enough.

When asked about what went wrong during the second map of the game, Sayf had this to say:

“Fundamental issue. Unfortunate that it had to happen. Maybe the calls weren’t correct. When you lose a man, it becomes awkward. They pushed multiple times with the Operator, which we couldn’t counter.”

When stax was asked about how he reflected on the loss to EDward Gaming the previous day and how he prepped himself for this match, he stated the following:

“After we lost yesterday, my feedback following yesterday’s game was that my calls were off. They could have been much better. Actually, they should have been better. While talking to my team and coach about the reasons for us losing the last game, I was able to regain my confidence.”

T1 Shut Down Derke With Ease

If there was one highlight from this match that players should remember, it’s the map of Haven. This was Team Vitality’s match pick. On this map, they lost the first four rounds of attack. Furthermore, they went on to lose the last five rounds on defense as well. Team Vitality had decided to go for a double duelist composition, with the significant difference being Sayf on Jett. Sadly, this wasn’t effective enough.

A point to note was Derke’s performance in the game. He ended the series with a KDA of 46/47/9. He finished with eight first kills but 14 first kills. When you compare this to BuZz, the duelist of T1, he ended a game with 15 first kills and six first deaths.

This clearly shows that T1 had ideas to counter Derke’s explosive playstyle in this match of VALORANT Masters Playoffs. Team Vitality, on the other hand, planned to counter BuZz, but it just failed.

Another player who shined brightly during this match was Meteor. On the three maps, he played the agents of Iso and Viper. While he played the duelist Iso on two maps, he seems the most lethal on Viper in map 3. During the match, Meteor won most of the kill contracts he participated in. Thus proving how strong his fundamentals were during this series.

This win means that T1 will face off against Edward Gaming in the lower bracket finals of the VALORANT Masters Bangkok.
