Red Dead Redemption 2: Hardest Achievements to Earn

There are plenty of achievements in Red Dead Redemption 2 that are going to be hard to collect for those seeking that pure 100% platinum.

There is an abundance of secret helmets and hats in Red Dead Redemption 2 that most players might have missed, so listed below is the location of each of them that might serve as a fresh new look for Arthur Morgan as he does his part to evade the Pinkertons with the Van der Linde gang.

8

Nevada Hat

A Black Hat with a Wide Brim for Stylish Sheriffs

  • Location: Behind the waterfall in Granite Pass, in Grizzlies West, Ambarino

The Nevada Hat is a stylish hat worn by Sheriff Curtis Malloy, the Sheriff of Valentine who can often be seen protecting his livestock town. While players can indeed steal the hat from Sheriff Malloy, it’s probably a good idea not to draw the attention of the law, so players can actually find this secret hat elsewhere.

Venturing to the Granite Pass waterfall at Whinyard Strait, West of Bracchus Station, players can head through a waterfall to discover the hat sitting on a rock, and underneath it, will also be a Note from Robert Ellio Patchen for the collection. The hat’s black design and wide, curved brim, make it an impressionable sight for cowboys.

Morion Helmet

A Helmet of a Spanish Soldier During the 16th Century Exploration

Location: North West on top of Mount Hagen, found on the head of the Frozen Settler

Arthur Morgan doesn’t seem like the kind of guy who is a major history buff, but he can indeed grab himself a Morion Helmet, belonging to a deceased and frozen Spanish settler from the 16th century, who most likely climbed Mount Hagen and got pretty cold and lost.

The helmet itself is hard to miss considering it is adorned with red plum feathers on the top brim, allowing players to show off a rather impressive relic of old history. However, despite the cool look of this helmet, it’s not going to make players bulletproof.

6

Miner’s Hat

A Useful Hat That Lights Up in Dark Areas

  • Location: Inside the Beryl’s Dream Mine after blowing up the rock entrance with the plunger device in Big Valley, West Elizabeth

The Miner’s Hat shows a potential life for Arthur from a different timeline, one where he decided to commit to an honest job instead of becoming an outlaw. The Miner’s Hat is a great choice to wear, as although it doesn’t have the cool factor of Arthur’s leather cowboy hat, it does offer a unique ability that all other hats lack.

The Miner’s Hat has a built-in headlight that will shine brightly when worn in the night or in dark areas, allowing Arthur to explore caves and areas in the night without having to equip a lantern that may otherwise obstruct his use of a revolver.

5

Viking Helmet

The Helmet of a Viking During the Vendel Period

  • Location: On a skeleton inside the Old Tomb, a burial site found in Roanoke Ridge, New Hanover

Continuing through Arthur’s crusade of history, he can discover an Old Tomb belonging to that of a Viking of the Vendel Period, where this helmet will give off the appearance of a warrior between 540—790AD, long before Arthur rode through Roanoke Ridge found this helmet and stumbled upon other rarities and the hostile Murfree Brood.

Red Dead Redemption 2 features a number of treasure maps (including a couple of PC exclusives) that fans can track down to increase their gold.

As for the Viking Helmet itself, it doesn’t serve much purpose other than providing a unique helmet to wear that cannot be shot off or knocked off like a standard helmet. The dense forests of Roanoke Ridge make this New Hanover secret a tough find, but an interesting one.

4

Pagan Skull Mask

A Terrifying Mask Involved in a Cult Ritual

  • Location: On a mutilated corpse at the Pagan Ritual site in Big Valley, West Elizabeth, West of Strawberry

Witchcraft might be dying out by 1899, but that doesn’t mean it’s extinct. There are still some occult practices and dark secrets found within Red Dead Redemption 2, and it seems that the Pagan Skull Mask is just one of many of the violent oddities found in the wild, where Arthur can claim himself a Pagan Skull Mask as a prize.

A dark ritual that could be connected to Satan worship, the Pagan Ritual is adorned with undeciphered symbols with a mutilated corpse in the center, protruding with guts and an open rib cage. The Pagan Skull Mask is a reminder of this horrible place, and an opportunity to really scare some enemies.

3

Chinese Skull Cap

A Guapi Mao Hat from Traditional Chinese Headgear

  • Location: North East of Armadillo on the corpse of Zhou Yi

Settling from the Qing Dynasty era of China, the Guapi mao hat of the Chinese Skull Cap is something Arthur can wear if he is brave enough to return West to the state of New Austin. While most players won’t be able to grab this hat due to the invisible sniper until the Epilogue section of the game, it’s still a fun collectible for those who may have missed it.

Red Dead Redemption 2: 8 Stranger Missions, Ranked on How Strange They Actually Are

While Arthur Morgan can meet plenty of strange characters in Red Dead Redemption 2, this selection of oddities certainly takes the cake.

The hat itself isn’t all that special outside of its unique red design, but the area in which it is found is rather interesting, for it’s on the corpse of Zhou Yi, an immigrant who died in New Austin searching for his lost cousin, most likely due to dehydration – but now Arthur has a new hat and a story to tell.

2

Civil War Hardee Hat

A Union Army Hat for Confederate Soldiers

  • Location: In the basement of Fort Brennand, West of Van Horn Trading Post

The Civil War may have ended over 30 years before the events of Red Dead Redemption 2, but that doesn’t mean the effects still linger, and remnants of it remain in terms of soldiers and dress. Arthur can actually find a Civil War Hardee Hat of his own in Fort Brennand, and this hat, based on its colors, belonged to the Confederate side of the war.

While nobody wants to play as the losing side, it’s still a decent collectible for Arthur to have, and perhaps even lets him blend in with many people in the state of Lemoyne. Sadly, wearing the hat doesn’t evoke a reaction from veterans like Joe Butler and Hayden Russell.

1

Tricorn Hat

An Old Pirate Hat That’s Not That Fashionable

  • Location: Found on a shipwreck on the island near Flat Iron Lake, West of Clemens Point

For the Tricorn Hat, players are going to need to take a boat out to Flat Iron Lake so that they do not drown, as this is a bit out of the way to reach. The hat itself is a three-sided folded hat, shaped like a triangle, and a reminder of the classic pirate era that has long since passed, which is why this hat isn’t exactly popular among the usual brims of cowboy hats.

In fact, if Arthur returns to the Van der Linde gang camp wearing this hat, some members of the posse might even tease him about his choice of hat, but for players, it’s worth picking up for its classic look, even if it’s not currently in fashion and hasn’t been since the 18th century.
