Kat Dennings Reaches Impressive Stardew Valley Milestone

Television and movie star Kat Dennings recently pulled off a feat in Stardew Valley that many players have been chasing after for years: catching the elusive fish known only as Legend. Dennings isn’t known for sharing a lot of gaming-based accomplishments, but her skillful catch is earning the admiration of many Stardew Valley fans.

Catching fish in Stardew Valley isn’t the most profitable way to earn money, but it does offer a challenge that has drawn many players to the cozy life simulator. As of the most recent update, more than 60 types of fish can be caught in the game, either by casting a line into the water or baiting crab pots. Most of these can only be caught during certain seasons at specific fishing locations, but there are also 10 Legendary Fish that are even harder to find and catch.

Stardew Valley‘s Legend fish is one of the original five legendary fish, and it can only be found by players when fishing on a rainy spring day at the Mountain Lake with a maxed-out fishing skill and the bobber landing at least five tiles away from any land. Even when found, it’s notoriously hard to catch, as it quickly and skillfully weaves in and out of the hitbox on the game’s fishing meter, escaping far more often than not. On February 28, Dennings posted an image to her Instagram Threads account showing her in-game avatar standing on the small island at the center of the lake, hoisting the elusive fish high above her head, captioned with a celebratory and exasperated “FINALLY OH MY GOD.”

The actress does not often post gaming-related content on her social media accounts. Dennings had a supporting role in WandaVision, reprising the role of Darcy Lewis that she originated in Marvel’s Thor movies, and she has also played big roles in Charlie Bartlett, Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist, and CBS sitcom 2 Broke Girls. Recently, her Instagram account has mostly been used to share information about her new show, Shifting Gears, which she stars in alongside Seann William Scott and Tim Allen, but her love for Stardew Valley has been documented in the past on her Instagram, as her second-ever post on Threads was an image of her adding a sticker that reads “Valley Girl” in a stylized font reminiscent of Stardew Valley‘s logo to the back of her Nintendo Switch.

Reactions to Dennings’ accomplishment show that catching Legend is still one of the most challenging achievements in Stardew Valley. While the majority of responses to the post have been congratulatory, several have expressed frustration with Legend or envy of Dennings, with one longtime player even declaring himself a “fake gamer” after Dennings beat him to the achievement.
