It is quite a while after first meeting Rosa that Henry will have the opportunity to make a move, and this will only be possible after making multiple correct decisions and fetching a book for her in previous quests. This guide will walk players through the steps on how to romance Rosa in KCD2.
Rosa is fiery, independent, and scholarly-minded. Bear this in mind when talking to her for the best reputation outcomes.
Meeting Rosa & Finding Her Book – Taking French Leave
After briefly meeting Rosa Ruthard during the Via Argentum quest at Ruthard Manor in Kuttenberg, Henry will be able to talk to her alone at the start of the Taking French Leave quest.
While asking her for directions on how to sneak into Maleshov castle, she will mention her favorite book, which she left behind. To have a chance at romancing Rosa, players must:
- Say “I’ll bring the book, fear not.”
If Henry has a high Scholarship level, he can first ask, “What is that book?” to further impress her, but it’s not vital. Either way, this will unlock the side task, Rosa’s Book.
Where To Find Rosa’s Book In Maleshov Castle
After players have entered Maleshov castle as part of Taking French Leave, they can find Rosa’s book in the main tower, where Hans Capon, the main objective, is also found.
- Once inside the tower, wait till the guards finish speaking with the lady.
- Then head upstairs and open the door on the left.
- Stealth behind Lady Ofka and knock her out.

Take The Book Back To Rosa
After picking up the red book, Henry will gain the objective to return the book to Rosa. After finishing Taking French Leave, go to Rosa at the Ruthard Palace as soon as possible.
Do not advance the main story before giving Rosa her book.
Before talking to her, however, read the book first for the best possible outcome. Also, try to arrive in nice clothes, perhaps with perfume to buff Henry’s Charisma.
- Say that you read the book.
- At the skill check, choose which option your Henry is best at.
- Say, “I would like that” when Rosa asks you about writing a book.
- Accept her invitation to go upstairs and finish the book together.
When writing the book, choose the following options:
- A woman.
- She should be clever.
- Only fools say that.
- Good intent.
After finishing the book and reading it, the following dialogue options are best:
- If only there were more such books.
- It’s pretty, really.
- I’d like to get to know you better sometime.
Rescuing Rosa From Otto Von Bergow – Dancing With The Devil
During the Dancing with the Devil main quest, Henry and friends will try to take Maleshov castle from Otto von Bergow, but it turns out he has captured Lady Rosa.

If Henry fails the skill check and peace cannot be found, make sure to stick up for Rosa.

Naturally, players will then have to go into the tower and save Rosa. This will involve fighting multiple enemies at once.
Escort Her Back To Maleshov & Romance Rosa – Oratores
During the Oratores quest, Henry and Rosa will be tasked with reclaiming Ruthard Palace via the underground tunnels. Throughout this mission, players will want to pick dialogue that Rosa will agree with, remembering her tendencies.
One way to maintain a high reputation with Rosa is to offer to carry her through the water. After reaching the palace, Henry will have to dispose of the ruffians. Once they are dealt with, go see Rosa in her room.
