How To Improve Putting In PGA Tour 2K25

For a lot of players, putting is the hardest part of PGA Tour 2K25. Getting the ball down the fairway can be easy enough, but reading the greens well and getting your ball in the cup can be really tough. That’s especially true considering PGA Tour 2K25 features some of the toughest courses in the world.

PGA Tour 2K25: Best Skills To Unlock First

In MyCareer in PGA Tour 2K25, there are certain skills you should unlock as soon as you can.

To do the best you can on the dancefloor, and avoid three-putting on every hole, there are some tips you should learn to increase your skills. Getting used to what all the indicators on screen can mean will take a while if you’re not a weathered golfer and are new to these games.

How To Read Greens

For some, reading greens will be pretty obvious. You need to take into account any slopes in the green, whether it be from left to right, right to left, or up and down. Then, you need to aim your shot so that you counter any potential movement in the ball.

The lines that run along the grid system when you putt, should the feature be active on your difficulty setting, will show you what direction the green slopes in, and how severe the slope is.

You then simply need to swing as you normally would, aiming for the percentage swing shown in the indicator in the bottom right of the screen. Again, that will be disabled on the game’s higher difficulty levels.

Putt Strength Tips

Putting up and down hill is where things can get a little trickier. When hitting uphill, you need to put more weight into your putt than you otherwise would. In these instances, any left to right or right to left movement will be reduced too.

When putting downhill, you need to do the opposite. Any left to right or right to left movement will be more pronounced and you’ll need to put less weight on your putt. If you’re too aggressive, you’ll end up puttting from further away than when you started.

Upgrade Your Putter

Making sure the gear in your bag is as good as possible will help you too. You earn fittings and consumables as you play, complete challenges, and level up.

You can then head to your MyPlayer and the equipment bag to equip them to putters to improve their stats. Swing quality will then be more forgiving once you hit the next set of greens.

Higher-rated putters will have better base stats. You can check them out in the PGA Tour Superstore from the main menu or MyPlayer menu.

Best Putting Skills

In the Green section of the skill tree, there are various skills you can unlock to improve your MyPlayer’s putting in MyCareer. The best ones to try and unlock are:

Green Skill

Description

Lag Putt

Rather than being deadly accurate, it ensures you stop close to the cup so that the next putt is relatively easy. Best for long puts on tricky greens.

Putt Contact Proficiency Boost

This skill, of which there are a couple of tiers, makes the contact point on your swing more forgiving. That reduces errors on putts.

Green Reader

One of the later skills, this adds a coloured grid to the green that shows the severity of the green’s slopes. This can only be unlocked once you’re at least 85 OVR and are the Greenskeeper Archetype.

You can also use VC to upgrade your MyPlayer’s putting stats, on top of the individual skills.
