If you’re playing Avowed on a normal or higher difficulty or if you just love exploring, side quests will be one of the best things you can do. Not only do these take you to various hidden areas to get unique items, but they also give you a ton of EXP to level up and get to the same power level as your enemies.

Avowed: Where To Find Seafarer’s Boots Treasure
Seafarer’s Boots treasure can be found in the Shatterscarp area of Avowed, and here’s the exact location where you should look for it.
Heart Of Valor is one such important side quest that you can find as soon as you enter the Thirdborn city in Shatterscarp. Talk to Chiko standing on the left path past the entrance and she’ll tell you the details of what she needs.
How To Reach Sand Sea Ruins
After taking the quest from Chiko, you’ll first have to talk to the person in question called Keipo. You can find him in a small house in the alley to the left of where Chiko was standing. He’ll tell you about a Heart of the Leviathan
that he hid in the Sand Sea Ruins and ask you to retrieve it.
The Sand Sea Ruins can be found on the eastern edge of Shatterscarp, but the main entrance to them will be barred. To get inside, take the path on the left of the entrance and you can use a ladder with some parkour here to get high up. Once you’re at the top, jump down the hole and you can unbar the door while entering the ruins.
How To Beat Sand Sea Ruins
When you first enter the Sand Sea Ruins and follow the path for a bit, you’ll enter a room with two levers in it. The first lever will ask you to not use it, and if you do, it’ll trigger a trap that damages you. You can use the second lever to call the elevator and use it to head down.
Once you’ve reached the lower part, jump to the same height as the three doors on your left and you’ll see a breakable wall right below the platform you just jumped from. Break this wall and you can activate the generator inside with Giatta’s ability, an electric weapon, or the Electric Lily Seed
.
A battle will trigger as you activate this generator while a few structures also start hanging up above.
Once you’ve defeated all the enemies, head back up from the path to the right and you can jump on these new structures hanging in the air to get to the other side.
After reaching the other side, you can either keep following the straight path and go through a few more blade and arrow traps, or you can jump on the platforms to the left as soon as you get across. This will take you to another breakable wall at the top that directly takes you to the next set of enemies.
Defeat these enemies and move forward to see some water and a bunch of platforms leading up. You can jump on these platforms to go all the way up and progress forward. On your path, you’ll have to defeat a bear, which then leads you to a door that you can open using the wheel near it.
You’ll find the heart of the Leviathan in the next room, and picking it up will open another door that you can use to exit.
However, you shouldn’t exit just yet as there’s more to the quest. You can also find Umpara’s Promise accessory here.
After claiming the heart, you can find a switch to the hidden door behind the heart on the left small pillar near the pedestal where the heart was placed. This room will have a journal that will show you Keipo’s lies. After this, you can talk to Chiko and head back to Thirdborn to finish the quest.
What Should You Do With The Leviathan Heart
As you return to Thirdborn, you’ll have quite a few choices as to what you want to do with the Heart of the Leviathan:
- You can give it to Keipo, who intends to drink the poison inside the heart as he doesn’t want to live anymore.
- Alternatively, you can refuse to give Keipo the heart and instead give it to Tira Nui Hajime outside his house. This will reward you with a few extra coins.
- Finally, you can refuse to give the heart to both of them and keep it for yourself as a trinket, which increases your attack damage while draining your health passively.
No matter what you choose, you’ll still get the Stormdancer’s Scale, Gloves, Boots, and Ring from Chiko at the end of the quest.
