When Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 players get to Kuttenberg they will have plenty to do as they explore the region. One of the early tasks they will come across is Hammer and Tongs.
Tasks are shorter side missions in KCD2 that players can do for rewards and gain (or lose) reputation with the locals. Hammer and Tongs can be picked up from the Blacksmith Zdimir in Grund, and here’s how to complete it successfully.

Hammer and Tongs Task Walkthrough
Players can take on several tasks and missions as they become familiar with the new region, Kuttenberg. Grund is one of the first areas they will most likely explore, and there are a few quests in the area, including a blacksmithing contest. To start it, players should talk to Blacksmith Zdimir, located in the north part of Grund.
Talk to Blacksmith Zdimir
Walk up to Blacksmith Zdimir and ask him what is new at the forge. Players who have talked to the Quest Tipster in Grund can ask about his talented apprentice. Zdimir will say that his apprentice, Matthias, is very talented. He shows off a knife he made and claims that Matthias is the best blacksmith around.
Henry, of course, rises to the unspoken challenge, and a bet is proposed: Henry and Matthias will go head-to-head in the forge to see who can make the best Hunting Sword, with Zdimir acting as the judge. If Henry wins, he gets 200 Groschen and both swords.
Forge a Hunting Sword
Players must forge a better Hunting Sword than Matthias to win the contest. Players can use the blacksmith’s forge to make the weapon.
The weapon is called a Competition Sword but requires the same materials as a Hunting Sword. Players must forge a sword that is at least level 3 to win the contest. When the sword is done, show it to Zdimir for judgment.
Show the Sword to Zdimir
After looking at both weapons, Zdimir will announce Henry as the winner if the sword is good enough. He will hand over the Groschen, but Matthias isn’t as open to giving up his sword. Players can either fight him for it or pass a dialogue skill check.
The dialogue check is a MEDIUM Intimidation check, so players can take their chances if they have a high enough Intimidation stat. Otherwise, they can fight him for it. Matthias isn’t a super tough opponent and will yield before Henry kills him.
Talk to him after he yields, and he will hand over the Competition Sword. Players can keep it or sell it for some extra Groschen.
