With Diablo 4 Season 8 postponed and as we await news on the next Path of Exile 2 update, one very promising 2025 ARPG has a special surprise announcement. Titan Quest 2, the long-awaited sequel to the beloved Greek mythology classic, is getting close to its early access launch, and now developer Grimlore Games reveals that we’ll be getting our hands on one more class type than previously expected. The Rogue mastery joins the previously announced trio of Warfare, Earth, and Storm to further amplify your builds.
Titan Quest 2 follows in its predecessors footsteps with the returning mastery system. Your character can combine any two of these into a distinctive fusion, meaning that the potential for radically different playthroughs expands dramatically with each new mastery added. It’s a feature that made the original stand out as one of the most interesting games like Diablo back in 2006. As the early access launch of the sequel nears, Grimlore announces a “neat surprise,” confirming that the Rogue mastery will join the existing trio in time for release.

The Rogue mastery focuses on three main pillars: precision, preparation, and evasion. Its abilities are accurate, and land exactly where they mean to. You can apply coatings to your weapons, inflicting various ailments on your foes that can be used to set up further combos. Finally, you can step into the shadows, evading damage and leaving your enemies unaware of your presence until your blade plants itself rudely into their back.
Grimlore details a small handful of skills the Rogue brings to the table. ‘Lethal Strike’ is the classic stealth-class staple, dealing a huge single blow capable of obliterating your victim’s health. If you score a kill with it, the cooldown is refreshed, allowing you to tear through packs of weaker enemies in no time. ‘Mark For Death’ labels your chosen target, dealing a portion of extra damage by default but with the potential to enable stronger interactions such as exploding poisons and shadow daggers.
‘Flicker’ is a teleport that deals some pierce damage. Another iconic piece of the Rogue toolkit, it can get you out of danger in a heartbeat, help build a flow state by recovering your cooldowns, or be modified into a more offensive, damage-dealing skill as you prefer. Finally, ‘Preparation’ is an aura that reserves a part of your energy to increase your poison and physical damage. This can be further modified, with options to increase your ailment or critical hit chances, convert your weapon’s damage type, or summon shadow daggers when you land a crit.
Grimlore’s video above shows an example of these elements combined, with a dual-wielding character that’s built for massive poison output, using the Preparation aura to convert all weapon damage to poison. It first marks the strongest target in a group, then uses a grenade to soften up the pack, dives in with Flicker, and finishes off the big threat with Lethal Strike, which then refreshes its cooldown to help clean up the remaining stragglers.
The Rogue mastery will be available when Titan Quest 2 early access begins – there’s currently no release date set, but it’s expected to land in the first half of 2025. Grimlore says to expect more regular blog posts and gameplay footage as the launch gets closer.
For now, consider trying another of the best RPGs on PC, or perhaps one of the best fantasy games.
