Summary

  • Forza Horizon 5 is officially making its way to PlayStation 5 beginning as soon as April 25 for those who purchase the Premium Edition.
  • Across the U.S., Canada and UK PlayStation Stores, the title is among the best-selling games, including at the No. 1 spot.
  • For reference, the game’s release date and preorders were announced just a few days ago, making it quite the rise.

Well, that didn’t take long.

After having its release date (April 25 for Early Access) revealed and preorders opened on Thursday, Forza Horizon 5, the latest Xbox “exclusive” to make its way beyond Microsoft’s console, has begun charting on the PlayStation Store. Specifically, across the U.S., Canada and UK, it is among the best-selling games, including at No. 1 and No. 2 in Canada alone.

Meanwhile, in Canada, Forza Horizon 5 occupies the top two spots in its region-specific store, with the Premium Edition at No. 1 and Standard at No. 2. What’s more, the Deluxe Edition is at No. 9, making all available editions within the store’s Top 10 list.

Why This May Be The Case

Of course, the sheer novelty of one of the “Big Three” Xbox exclusives making its way to PlayStation 5 has no doubt impacted preorders in a positive way. One could only imagine what the preorder charts would look like if the Master Chief Collection rumors became reality.

That said, the fact that Forza Horizon 5 won’t have a physical edition has likely played a role in things. According to the official Horizon Twitter account, “nothing” is planned for a physical release, meaning digital is the only way to obtain the game. Either way, these developments go to show just how popular an Xbox game jumping ship can be.
