Summary

  • Super Saiyan 4 Goku battles Demon King Gomah using devastating Kamehameha blast.
  • Piccolo attempts to defeat Gomah using three hits to the Evil Third Eye with disappointing results.
  • Majin Kuu successfully defeats Gomah by hitting the Evil Third Eye thrice, crowning a new Demon King.

Dragon Ball DAIMA got all of Earth’s heroes back in their usual grown-up bodies ahead of the finale, but one enormous obstacle remained. Supreme Demon King Gomah seems to have limitless power thanks to the Evil Third Eye, and Super Saiyan 4 Goku is prepared to make the final stand. In a season finale that may be the series finale, a new Demon King was finally crowned in Dragon Ball DAIMA.

From the chibi-fying premiere that miniaturized so many Dragon Ball fan favorites to shocking transformations many thought would never be seen in a canon series, Dragon Ball DAIMA has taken a wild ride through this 20-episode season. In classic Dragon Ball fashion, viewers have watched as Goku and friends hurdle every new obstacle while inevitably turning the bad guys good again and again. Super Saiyan 4 Goku and Piccolo have a plan thanks to Arinsu’s discovery that three hits to the back of the head can knock out the Evil Third Eye, but that’s easier said than done. While there’s always a possibility of a second season, Dragon Ball DAIMA puts a button on this finale that may indeed wrap up the entire series.

Piccolo Goes for the Headshot

Dragon Ball DAIMA Episode 20, “Maximum”, picked up exactly where the penultimate installment left off as a fully transformed, battle-ready adult Super Saiyan 4 Goku made Earth’s final stand against Supreme Demon King Gomah. Goku landed several great hits, but Gomah just kept using the Evil Third Eye to instantly recover and amplify his own power. Villains refusing to stay down isn’t new in Dragon Ball, but this battle did feel like a microcosm of exactly what makes Saiyans such perfect warriors. He’d get knocked down, channel the Tertian Oculus, recover, and suddenly discover a new level just like Saiyans have so many times in this franchise. Goku continued to push himself to match each power boost, and that led to one of his most devastatingly destructive Kamehameha blasts of all time.

Super Saiyan 4 Goku didn’t just blast a perfect hole through Gomah, he also carved a tunnel between worlds that thinned the air of the Demon Realm and even created an inter-world waterfall. Piccolo, who had stealthily moved into position waiting for the perfect moment, finally took his shot and rushed at Gomah to attempt three swift strikes to the back of the head. The first two hit the mark, but Gomah swatted Piccolo away like a fly before the third could connect. Supreme Demon King Gomah tapped into the power of the Tertian Oculus once again and completely regenerated his body to fill the hole Goku had created.

Saying Goodbye to the Demon Realm

As Gomah began gathering energy for a final attack, violent swirling winds whipped up and knocked around several fighters. As he tried to run the Book of Magic Items back to Arinsu, Majin Kuu was miraculously swept up by the air currents and carried directly to the back of Gomah’s head. Kuu saw his chance and used the huge tome to swiftly smack Gomah in the back of the head three times. Before he could even register what was happening, the Evil Third Eye popped out of Gomah’s head and dropped to the ground.

The rocky platform created using the magic of the Tertian Oculus broke apart, and Gomah shrunk back down to his usual tiny self. Glorio quickly stomped on the Evil Third Eye and squished it like a bug before everyone surrounded Majin Kuu to celebrate the victory over Gomah. Marba, the witch that helped Arinsu create the Majin brothers, arrived in the aftermath and imprisoned Gomah with Degesu in a bottle to repent for the next 99 years.

Before he could even register what was happening, the Evil Third Eye popped out of Gomah’s head and dropped to the ground.

While Supreme Kai felt she should take on the mantle, Arinsu turned down a chance to become Supreme Demon King. Without the magic power she’d hoped to get from the Demon Realm Dragon Balls, Arinsu believed she’d just get overthrown by someone else. Neva suggested that the one who defeats the Supreme Demon King should be first in line as their successor, and Majin Kuu excitedly agreed after a brief moment of stunned disbelief. Kuu named Arinsu his Vice-Supreme Demon King and chose Majin Duu, Marba, Neva, Glorio, and King Kadan as Ministers.

Dende and Piccolo politely declined an offer to stay in the Demon Realm with Neva, but Earth’s Guardian did say he’d check with the nomadic Nameks that had been planetless since the Frieza Saga. Goku insisted they make a quick stop on the way home to buy some more Revive Bugs, and Panzy made a startling discovery while checking out the rest of that store’s inventory. Two more Evil Third Eyes were simply sitting in a jar for anyone to buy. “The End” popped up on screen immediately after shocked shouting from Goku, Glorio, Panzy, Shin, and Bulma concluded the finale of Dragon Ball DAIMA.
