Summary
- The AMD Radeon RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT will launch on March 6 at $549 and $599.
- Both new GPUs will compete against Nvidia’s RTX 5070 and 5070 Ti.
- Features of the AMD Radeon RX 9000 lineup include enhanced memory and support for FSR4 upscaling.
On February 28, AMD posted that its upcoming flagship graphics cards, the Radeon RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT, will be released on Thursday, March 6. The new AMD graphics cards will also retail at an attractive price point of just under $600, as the Radeon RX 9000 lineup looks to compete directly against Nvidia’s RTX 50 series of GPUs.
The news of AMD’s launch of the Radeon RX 9000 GPUs came following some controversy from its chief competitor. In early 2025, Nvidia launched the RTX 5090, 5080, and 5070 Ti GPUs, which sold out as quickly as they arrived. Although some PC builders were successful in purchasing a new card at MSRP, most of Nvidia’s new stock has been scalped with markups reaching the $3,000 mark. Sadly, AMD has not escaped the gaze of scalpers, either. Some of the outgoing cards, like the Radeon RX 7900 XTX, have been resold at prices upwards of $1,000 due to dwindling stock and demand from gamers.

The Radeon RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT will have respective starting prices of $549 and $599.
AMD Launching Radeon RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT On March 6
- The AMD Radeon RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT will arrive on Thursday, March 6.
- The Radeon RX 9070 will start at $549, and the RX 9070 XT’s MSRP begins at $599.
- Both RX 9000 cards will compete against Nvidia’s RTX 5070 and 5070 Ti.
- The new Radeon GPUs will have 16GB of video memory and utilize 8-pin power supply connectors.
By comparison, the RTX 5070 will also launch at the $549 mark, but the RTX 5070 Ti’s starting MSRP of $749 has not held up due to scalpers and inventory woes. The AMD Radeon RX 9070 and 9070 XT will feature 16 GB of GDDR6 video memory, HDMI 2.1b, and DisplayPort 2.1a connectivity, and boost clocks that can reach between 2.5 and 2.9 GHz.
The RX 9070 will use two fans and two 8-pin power connectors, and the RX 9070 XT will feature three of each. Power supplies with a capacity of at least 650 to 750W are recommended for the new Radeon cards. Additionally, the AMD Radeon RX 9000 lineup will support features like FSR4 upscaling. When paired with an AMD CPU like the Ryzen 9 9900X, users can also take advantage of AMD Smart Access Memory and Fluid Motion Frames technologies.
PC gamers looking to grab a new AMD processor or older GPU can also take advantage of a deal that includes a bonus Steam copy of Monster Hunter Wilds. Only time will tell how consumers will react to AMD’s new GPU launch.
