Setting up camp has been at the core of Monster Hunter from the very beginning. You get prepped back at base, eating your meals and sorting out your equipment. That’s been a mainstay of the series since its inception, though this changes somewhat in Monster Hunter Wilds with the introduction of pop-up camps.

Monster Hunter Wilds Review: Don’t Think, Just Hunt
Monster Hunter Wilds is a more approachable, if slightly more mindless Monster Hunter.
These handy camps, as indicated by the name, can be popped up in plenty of places around the world. They are set locations though, meaning you have to find the right place to set them up. And when it comes to the Oilwell Basin, there sure are quite a few locations. Here’s where to find them all.
What Are Pop-Up Camps?
Pop-Up Camps are basically camp sites on the go. They offer almost all the same functionality of your tent back at Base Camp. You can restock your inventory, change your equipment, rest to change the time of day and weather, cook meals, and plenty more. Minus the helpful NPCs back at Base Camp, you’re not missing much.
Pop-Up Camps can be set up in one of two ways:
- Visiting the respective Felyne at each Base Camp and choosing from your discovered location to set up a Pop-Up Camp.
- Using the Camp set-up kit yourself in the world to call in Felynes to create a Pop-Up Camp at your location.
If your Pop-Up Camp slots are full, you can only free up slots at Base Camp, not out in the world.
Be mindful when making a Pop-Up Camp though, as monsters that see them are liable to destroy them, too. When destroyed, Pop-Up Camps will be repaired over time, though you can pay Guild Points to have it repaired instantly as well.
How Many Pop-Up Camps Are There In The Oilwell Basin?
The Oilwell Basin has less Pop-Up Camps in total than the Scarlet Forest and Windward Plains, but still has quite a few spread around its large environs. In total, there are eight Pop-Up Camps to discover here, with a maximum of five able to be placed at once.
All of these camp locations are quite spread out from one another as well, so try to be tactical when choosing them so you can have lots of areas to set off from while on a hunt.
Every Oilwell Basin Pop-Up Camp Location
The Oilwell Basin’s Pop-Up Camps are quite spread out. Many of them are fairly easy to find, though some are a bit more secretive and out of the way, so here’s where to find them all.
Area 2: Canyon Divide
This is found in Area 2, right in the northwest corner and then down a small corridor.
Area 4: Dilapidated Roadway
This camp is found in Area 4, up high on the path towards Area 6.
Area 8: Middle Strata North
This is found right in the middle of Area 8 in the midst of all the Oilsilt.
Area 9: Middle Strata South
This camp is found in the south end of Area 9 right before entering Area 11.
Area 12: Crimson Rivulet
Despite claiming to be in Area 12, it’s just as close to Area 16. In the path connecting both zones, there is a small path you can enter leading to the Pop-Up Camp location at the end.
Area 13: Limestone Cavern
On the slightly-raised cliff in Area 13, proceed north through a small opening to reach this campsite.
Area 14: Mining Cave
From the watery Area 14, travel southwest atop your Seikret to reach a small hidden area with the campsite at the end.
Area 15: Lower Strata North
While in Area 15, travel right to the very northern tip of the area to find this campsite nestled around the corner.
