As the name suggests, the Ruins of Wyveria are the remnants of a once great city called Wyveria. This ancient city was home to a technologically advanced society beyond anything we’ve seen in Monster Hunter before. It has long been suspected that the series takes place in a post-apocalyptic world, Wyveria confirms that to be true for the first time.

Wyveria’s people discovered a way to create their own artificial monsters. They called them Guardians, and used them to protect themselves from monsters and people alike.

At the center of Wyveria sits the Dragontorch, an object of power that brings life and stability to the Forbidden Lands’ ecosystems. The people of Wyveria created an ultimate weapon called Zoh Shia to protect the Dragontorch and ensure stability throughout the Forbidden Lands.

Throughout the ruins of Wyveria lurk the Guardians, a group of artificial, self-replicating monsters who are connected to Wyveria’s energy source called wylk. While the Guardians have all the strength and abilities of the monsters they imitate, they also have some additional abilities as Guardians.

All Guardians can create energy explosions from the earth and absorb energy to repair their wounds. Their interactions with wylk often leave behind crystal structures that can be detonated by a variety of items and elemental attacks as a way to use the Guardian’s powers against them. Most importantly, some unique materials can be harvested from Guardians. Many of these items are used to craft powerful weapons and armor at the Smithy.

The Ruins of Wyveria have many of the same features as the other regions in Monster Hunter Wilds, including hunting assistants, item trades, and material recovery. But its most important features are its Guardian monsters that can be farmed for Guardian materials.
