Monster Hunter Wilds takes you to the Forbidden Lands, where a mysterious monster has been terrorizing the different locations and its people. After being sent there by the Guild, you have to help the locals and hunt this massive threat to the ecosystem, otherwise the very existence of these lands might be at stake.

Yian Kut-Ku
Kut-tucky Fried Chicken
The fan-favorite flaming chicken is back from the depths of hell, and he’s furious! The Yian Kut-Ku makes a triumphant return in this entry, and with the classic moves we all know and love. While this foe won’t give you too much of a hard time, you should never underestimate it.
Once you finish the Main Story and reach High Rank, the first monster you’ll find will be a trio of these; funny shenanigans ensue, and you’ll have to face it in battle whether you like it or not. Good luck with this angry pollo!

Blangonga
The Blangonga makes an appearance back from Generations Ultimate, and its presence in Wilds makes complete sense when you meet it in the Iceshard Cliffs. However, as simple as this monster looks, you should not underestimate it, as its violent behavior and Ice-based attacks will prove deadly.
Blangonga can punch you to death with the same ease as it lifts a huge chunk of ice from underground; meanwhile, the smaller Blangos will annoy you as hard as you can, so try to ditch them fast, avoid being jumped on or lifted up in the air and then focus on this powerful foe.

Gypceros
Is It Dead? Is It Not?
In the beta for Wilds, players were able to take some swings at the Gypceros, a classic monster that has been part of the series since the very first game! Now with the full game out, this Poison-based monster will prove to be a difficult endeavor, with deceitful behavior.
Once you have inflicted enough damage on Gypceros, it will pretend to die, and even the music of the game will stop. However, it’s all a ruse, and you must take some distance before it comes back to life and hits you with its beak. What a douche of a creature.

Congalala
Don’t Let The Conga Distract You From That Cloud
Surprisingly enough, one of the first monsters you’ll face in this game is one of the funniest; the Congalala returns ready to dance with your Hunter, and you must remember to hit its tail as much as you can, but steer clear from its butt at the same time, which is a bit confusing.
Once the Congalala gets annoyed it will eat a shroom of its choice, coating its attacks in different elements depending on the shroom. However, its most annoying move comes in the form of its farts, no less, as it releases a huge brown cloud that forbids you from using your items every time it happens.

Rathian
The Poison Queen Rules With An Iron Fist
The Poisonous Queen makes a return, even though its presence is always guaranteed in the series. Rathian shows its classic behavior with huge aerial twists, flame attacks, and Poison-based techniques that make its fight a constant challenge.
And just like always, its weapons and armor sets prove to be some of the most useful in the whole game, so you can bet you’ll be farming its fight over and over until you obtain every possible piece of equipment.

Rathalos
The King Of The Skies Flies High
While you play the main story, you will find a different, more aggressive version of this familiar monster. However, once you arrive at High-Rank missions, it won’t take too long before you encounter this classic wyvern, the King Of The Skies, Rathalos.
With its classic fireballs and very aggressive behavior, the flagship monster of the whole series will give you a hard time as you learn how to dodge, hit, and counter its aerial movements. Since Rathian made a comeback, the other half of the beloved pair couldn’t miss out.

Gore Magala
The Frenzied Beast Returns
Originally showcased as the flagship monster of Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, Gore Magala shows up in the post-game story as the main villain behind a nefarious infection on the Dragontorch. However, once Fabius gets involved he quickly picks up the clues and prepares for the worst.
While Gore Magala hasn’t been absent from the series, it’s a delight to see this fight, and the cherry on top is the music, which has some callbacks to the opening song from Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. Watch out for its Frenzy Virus unless you want to experience a swift loss!
