Stardew Valley's Wizard Has Hilarious Reaction to So-Called Gift

Summary

  • Stardew Valley fans find Wizard’s response to bomb gift amusing and hilarious.
  • Patch fixed a glitch where NPCs loved every gift, making Wizard’s dislike realistic.
  • Giving a bomb to NPCs costs friendship points, but is a funny moment embraced by the community.

A Stardew Valley player attempted to give a bomb in their inventory to the Wizard as a gift, who had a hilarious response to it. The particular correlation between the Wizard’s respone and the gift given is amusing fans of Stardew Valley.

Stardew Valley on Switch recently patched a glitch that led to NPCs loving every gift that was handed to them. While this sounds like a beneficial glitch on paper, it was out of character and weird to have NPCs responding favorable to literal trash and similar junky items handed to them as a present. If that glitch hadn’t yet been fixed, this funny moment wouldn’t have happened.

Stardew Valley: The Complete Calendar

Stardew Valley only lists the current season and currently known NPCs, so having access to the full calendar is useful.

Over on Reddit, user Legend365554 shared the moment that they gave a bomb to the Wizard as a gift and he responded in a hilarious way. When the game isn’t glitched, bombs aren’t considered to be a positive gift to anyone, with every single Stardew Valley villager classifying it as a disliked gift. Legend365554 apparently didn’t have much on them to offer, so they handed over a bomb to the Wizard, thinking it might be received well. However, the Wizard responded with his standard dislike response, suggesting that he might throw it into the fire just to see what happens.

Wizard Bomb Response is Explosively Hilarious

Stardew Valley fans are having quite a fun time with this exchange. While some suggested that the Wizard would be fine, as he’s well-versed in arcane arts and is wise, others joked that an explosion was sure to follow. Some suggested that the player would get punished for it, perhaps waking up as a crow the day after. Players also pointed out that it’s a slightly frustrating detail that giving a bomb to an NPC will actually cost the player friendship points with them, even though Kent sends bombs to farmers regularly after developing a strong enough friendship.

Thankfully, outside the 20 lost friendship points, there aren’t any genuinely negative outcomes from handing off a bomb to the Wizard or any other NPC. Some might consider it a good idea for developer ConcernedApe to amend this reaction so that the Wizard doesn’t say he’s going to set dangerous or explosive items on fire when received. However, judging from the overall reaction from the game’s community, most would probably see that as a loss, as it’s a funny moment to have. Players who don’t have valuable and specific items to give to the Wizard or other NPCs may want to consider stocking up on universally loved Stardew Valley gifts so they’re on-hand when they come across NPCs randomly.
