Predicting Konami and Bloober’s Next Silent Hill Game

Predicting Konami and Bloober's Next Silent Hill Game

Bloober Team is continuing its strong streak, as the developer recently announced that it would once again be teaming up with industry heavy-hitter Konami. After doing a stellar job at crafting the Silent Hill 2 remake, Bloober Team is about to head another project based on Konami IP. This is a major step forward for the studio, and it could bring even more scares to gamers.

The renewed Bloober Team and Konami partnership is still quite secretive at the moment, but the obvious expectation is for the former to be working on another Silent Hill game. Both parties have yet to confirm if this new project is actually Silent Hill, but it’s the most likely choice. This also raises plenty of questions about which Silent Hill entry it could be.

Although it stands as the peak of the franchise in the eyes of many fans, Silent Hill 2 features varied quality among its limited bestiary of foes.

Bloober Team Would Be the Perfect Studio to Breathe New Life Into Several Silent Hill Chapters

The First Silent Hill Feels Like a No-Brainer

  • Silent Hill was released in 1999.

Although the most obvious choice, it would also be one of the most exciting, as it’s one of the franchise’s strongest entries. Considering that it’s the chapter that kicked the rest of the series off, it deserves a fresh coat of paint. The studio nailed the atmosphere of Silent Hill 2, and the horror-focused team would likely be able to do so again with Silent Hill. From the details of the characters to the overall story, Bloober Team truly did Silent Hill 2 justice, and it would be exciting to see its predecessor get the exact same treatment.

Silent Hill 3

  • Silent Hill 3 was released in 2003.

This is another entry that remains a staple in the long-running horror series. Silent Hill 3 is one of the most notable horror titles to be released for the PS2, and seeing Heather Mason’s dark journey reimagined in a modern light is bound to bring the game’s scares up to a brand-new level. There have already been rumors that both Silent Hill and Silent Hill 3 could be getting remakes, but nothing has been confirmed. If these rumors happen to be proven true, though, Bloober Team would be a strong team to craft one, or even both.

Silent Hill 3 was inspired by the works of Stephen King and Jacob’s Ladder.

A Brand-New Silent Hill Story

There’s also the possibility that this renewed collaboration may not be a remake at all. Newer Silent Hill chapters have not exactly hit the same notes as the original trilogy achieved. The impending release of Silent Hill f is exciting, but most details about the game still remain a mystery. Bloober Team’s history boasts a mix of original IP and adaptations, so the studio creating its own Silent Hill story is quite possible. Silent Hill is probably the most likely franchise that Bloober Team is set to develop, but there’s also a chance that Konami is giving the studio the reins of a completely different IP.

Bloober Team is also working on its own original IP, Cronos: The New Dawn.

Konami’s Two Other Heavy-Hitters Could Shake Things Up for Bloober Team

  • Castlevania
  • Metal Gear Solid

Metal Gear Solid seems far less likely, but Castlevania could be a fascinating option. Bloober Team has the skills needed to possibly bring a horror-filled Castlevania chapter to life. Konami’s vampire franchise is filled with great atmosphere, and Bloober Team has showcased that it excels at this. Of course, this could be wishful thinking, but it’s a fun thought.

Right now, there’s no telling what this new project from Bloober Team and Konami is going to be, but it’s exciting to speculate. Leading up to the Silent Hill 2 remake, longtime fans were skeptical, but thankfully, the developer proved many wrong. It may be difficult to capture lightning in a bottle twice, but Bloober Team may be able to pull it off.
