Pokemon TCG Pocket’s Space-Time Smackdown Cards Can Now Be Traded

Pokemon TCG Pocket’s Space-Time Smackdown Cards Can Now Be Traded

Summary

  • Trading function in Pokemon TCG Pocket still too costly for casual players.
  • DeNA has not made significant changes to trading feature since launch.
  • Players now able to trade Space-Time Smackdown expansion cards, but costs remain high.

Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket’s trading function is still not in a good place. While DeNA is starting to hand out trade tokens a little more liberally, ultimately, the cost to trade four-diamond and one-star rarity cards is still very, very high and it effectively stops many casual players from making full use of the feature.

Another version of one of the current meta’s most disruptive cards.

While DeNA has promised it is looking into ways to improve trading, the feature has seen no real changes since it launched.

However, while trading has been mostly doom and gloom since it launched, there’s a bit of good news for players, as, with the launch of the Triumphant Light expansion, you are now free to trade your unwanted Space-Time Smackdown cards.

This is the first time that a new expansion has launched since trading has been live in Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket, and it was unclear whether that meant previous expansions could be traded with friends. The good news is, it does.

It’s likely you’ve still got cards to collect from the Space-Time Smackdown expansion, given how stressful the TCG Pocket release schedule is, so now is certainly a good time to grab them. That being said, you’ll still be paying the extortionate trade token cost that has plagued the game.

In a statement, DeNA said, “Thanks to your feedback, we understand that the restrictions put in place are preventing players from being able to casually enjoy the feature as intended. We are actively investigating ways to improve the feature to address these concerns.”

While the flurry of free trade tokens has been nice, fundamental changes are still required. Given the fact that players are making money selling their digital trading cards on eBay, despite the restrictions being put in place to stop exactly that, DeNA probably needs to go back to the drawing board.
