One of the biggest new mechanics in Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is the ship. Players will unlock it, the Goromaru, about an hour or two into the game, which is when the real adventure begins. Players can arm it with a variety of weapons on the port and starboard side of the ship.

There is a machine gun nest, plus Goro can run around the ship with a rocket launcher. Players can recruit random NPCs in Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii to improve the stats of these weapon placements too. Gold Captain’s Launcher

The Gold Captain’s Launcher is one of the few Rocket Launcher weapons in the game. It’s not attached to the ship itself and players instead have to revert controls manually to Goro. Players can then run around the deck of the ship and fire at enemy ships, leaving the Goromaru vulnerable as it cannot sail the high seas on its own.

The Captain Meteor’s Launcher weapon is technically the strongest in the game with a whopping Firepower rating of 350 but it only has 10 rockets attached. The Gold Captain’s Launcher is a better-balanced weapon to buy.

Super Coconut Machine Gun

The Super Coconut Machine Gun does not have any bonus effects attached, but it is a better weapon than the Gold Gatling Gun, which only has a Cannon Power rating of 400. The gun looks like a golden palm tree and presumably, this thing fires coconuts too, which is funny to think about.

It fits in well with the wacky over-the-top nature of Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. Machine Guns are some of the most valuable weapons in the game as players can hold down the R1 button, on a PS5 controller, to fire away without much reload time.

Super Frost Machine Gun

A Glacial Advantage

The Super Frost Machine Gun is another Machine Gun type with a lower Cannon Power rating than the Super Coconut Machine Gun if only slightly. However, it does have a bonus effect attached as it can freeze enemy ships.

It should come as no surprise then that freezing bullets will halt enemy ships in their places. It’s not as effective as the ice magic in another recent RPG, Avowed, but it’s still nice to have bonus effects like these on ship weapons in Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii.

Super Shark Cannon

The Super Shark Cannon also has a bonus effect for freezing enemy ships. It has a lower Cannon Power than any of the machine gun types on the list, but it is a different type overall. As the name implies, this is a cannon-based weapon that can either be placed on the port or starboard side of the ship. Unlike machine guns, cannons have cooldown periods like abilities in RPGs. Their attack power overall is greater if all cannonballs hit.

Super Egesta Cannon

The Super Egesta Cannon is another cannon-based weapon and it has a slightly higher Cannon Power rating than the Super Shark Cannon. It also has a less fun design than the Super Shark Cannon as a shark-themed gun seems like something Goro Majima would definitely have on his pirate ship. The Super Egesta Cannon bonus effect is special though as it can infect ships with disease. Infected ships cannot use their cannons until the captain manually fixes the ship, which is bad for when players get diseased but great when enemies do.

Gold Flamethrower

The Gold Flamethrower is not a cannon in the traditional sense, but it can be equipped to the cannon position on the port and starboard sides of the ship. They are giant flamethrowers, unlike anything a shooting game has seen before.

Once activated, they will shoot out a gust of concentrated flames and then die out until they can be recharged again. The range is more limited than most guns in the game, but the bonus effect will be worth it. Ships that get engulfed in flames will take damage over time akin to burning status effects in RPGs like Pokemon.

Super Laser Cannon

A Futuristic Weapon

The Super Laser Cannon is the absolute best weapon in the game. If Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii was a more accurate pirate game, these would not exist. However, this game takes place in the modern day, making laser weapons perfectly reasonable even if they are more Sci-Fi.

The Super Laser Cannon has no bonus effects but the range is long as it shoots out concentrated beams at enemy ships. They can even lock-on like a spaceship in an old-school shooter game. There is a close second to this cannon-based weapon, the Energy Cannon. It has a lower Cannon Power of 1400 and the Energy Cannon doesn’t fire a concentrated pattern of beams. To become the true pirate king of the Hawaiian islands, players need to get the Super Laser Cannon as soon as possible.
