Summary
- If you happen to be an employee of Pocketpair, then don’t show up to work tomorrow.
- That’s because the company is giving employees the day off to go enjoy Monster Hunter Wilds.
- It wouldn’t be the first time the company has recognized a major gaming release, as the release of Elden Ring in 2022 was met with an “Elden Vacation.”
When Monster Hunter Wilds, the latest installment in Capcom’s popular monster-hunting action RPG, launches globally tomorrow (Feb. 28), employees of Pocketpair, the studio behind Palworld, won’t have to show up to work.
That’s because the company is giving its employees the day off, making Feb. 28 a holiday for the majority of its workforce. In a tweet shared online, the company recognized that employees were reporting feeling “unwell.”

The game keeps going after you’ve finished it, but some players might not stick around for it.
Of course, those employees likely caught a fever …the Monster Hunter fever. Now, they’ll be able to deal with their ailments in peace, though don’t expect ongoing game development to face any setbacks, as, according to a translation from Automaton, “update rollout will remain on schedule.”
Pocketpair Has Done This Before
While it sounds a little bit strange that the company will give its employees the day off to go enjoy Monster Hunter, as it turns out, this isn’t the first time they’ve recognized a major game release.
In 2022, its employees were given not just one, but two days off to go enjoy Elden Ring. Perhaps the most noteworthy aspect of their decision to give employees the day off is the fact that Palworld hadn’t even been released by that point. It was still floundering in development and not the smash-hit that eventually drew lawsuits from Nintendo.
“Pocket Pair provides Elden vacation to all eligible employees! The King of Elde does not have to work on Fridays or Mondays!” a translation of a 2022 tweet read.
In other words, if it’s a large enough gaming release, and Monster Hunter Wilds is exactly that, then you can expect Pocketpair to give its employees a nice little bonus day off to go enjoy it. Moral of the story — find yourself an employer who recognizes your love of all things gaming.
