Summary
- The Gods’ Knights have been revealed to be the central antagonists in the Elbaf arc, aiming to weaken the country for a World Government takeover.
- St. Shepherd Summers is related to the Gorosei, St. Shepherd Ju Peter, implying their familial link.
- The Shepherd Family, one of the Original 20 Families of Celestial Dragons, holds power second only to the Figarland Family in One Piece lore.
The Elbaf arc of One Piece has finally given a good amount of insight regarding the ranks of the Gods’ Knights and those who make up this fabled group of warriors. Though it’s implied that there are at least 9 members, 4 have been shown so far, with a fair amount of speculation about who each of these members truly are. These characters are St. Figarland Shamrock, St. Shepherd Summers, St. Limosiv Qilingham, and Gunko.
Very little more information than this is revealed about these characters, but it is clear that they will act as the central antagonists in One Piece’s Elbaf arc. One very notable fact, however, relates to one of these Gods’ Knights and shows that they are related to one of the Gorosei, who are the leaders of the World Government. So, let’s break down who this is and which Elder they may be related to.

Chapter 1140 of the One Piece manga finally revealed details about Shamrock and the Gods’ Knight’s plan on Elbaf, which was to recruit Loki into their ranks and kidnap all the children to make the country weak enough for a hostile takeover by the World Government. However, seeing as how the situation in Marijoa was becoming increasingly dire due to Dragon’s siege, Shamrock was needed back in the Holy Land.
In his place, 2 other Gods’ Knights are sent to the island to finish the mission; St. Qilingham Limosiv and St. Shepherd Summers. The latter seemed to speak with more authority and familiarity with Shamrock, implying that he is likely a high-ranking member of the group. This also makes sense since he is the second member of the Shepherd Family of Celestial Dragons ever revealed, which was quite important as it showed him as the only known relative of a Gorosei other than Garling, namely St. Shepherd Ju Peter.
Long ago, the savage warriors of Elbaf dominated the New World. The World Government will bring them to heel no matter what!
Presumably the youngest of the 5 Elders, Ju Peter is the Warrior God of Agriculture and the only one whose Yokai transformation doesn’t turn him into a demonic figure from Japanese folklore, since he becomes a giant Sand Wyrm. Currently, the nature of their relationship is unknown since it wasn’t revealed, only that both Summers and Ju Peter belong to the Shepherd family.
Many in the community are quick to call them brothers due to their likeness and similar age. However, it’s entirely possible that Ju Peter is far older than Summers since the promotion to the ranks of an Elder grants immortality, which likely takes effect at the current age of the character. Because of this, it’s implied that the person who eventually becomes an Elder stays the same age that they became as such, which means that it’s possible for Ju Peter to perhaps even be Summer’s father.
Unfortunately, this is the extent of the knowledge that fans have about the Shepherd Family, though Oda is likely to reveal far more in the upcoming chapters of the Elbaf arc. As for Summers, it’s currently unclear if he is just a master at using Haki or if he has a Devil Fruit, though many think that his status as a Gods’ Knight and a relative of one of the Gorosei may even give him a similar Yokai ability to Ju Peter.
For now, the Shepherd Family sits as one of the most powerful known families of all the Celestial Dragon clans that made up the first coalition of 20 kingdoms, second only to the Figarland Family. Since Garling has now been promoted to the Warrior God of Science and Defense within the ranks of the 5 Elders, he has also likely gained a Yokai power, and seeing how Shamrock is the Commander of the Gods’ Knights and Shanks is a Yonko, the Figarlands currently take the spot of the strongest Celestial Dragon clan.

Who Are The Remaining Celestial Dragon Families?
The Other Clans Of World Nobles
Currently, the names of only a few of the Celestial Dragon families have been revealed. Unfortunately, there isn’t as much of an emphasis on their importance yet, but they will definitely be expanded upon later on in the Final Saga. Not only will it be amazing to see all of the original 20 families that destroyed the Ancient Kingdom, but it would also give a great insight into their history since their original countries may also be shown.
Currently, there are only 10 of the original 20 families that have been revealed, but even then, 4 of them don’t have their names confirmed. These are:
- Figarland Family
- Donquixote Family
- Rosward Family
- Shepherd Family
- Limosiv Family
- Manmeyer Family
- Topman Family
- Marcus Family
- Jaygarcia Family
- Ethanbaron Family
As for the families of 4 of the original Elders, barring the Shepherd Ju Peter, it’s unclear which of their names belong to them and which belong to their families. The structure of the rest of the World Noble’s names show that the name of the family comes first, but for Mars, Warcury, Saturn, and Nusjuro, it’s unclear whether it’s the same case since it sounds like it could honestly go either way for them.
One Piece can be streamed on Crunchyroll.
