Monster Hunter Wilds Review: Don’t Think, Just Hunt
Monster Hunter Wilds is a more approachable, if slightly more mindless Monster Hunter.
One change that didn’t particularly go down well in the game’s beta, however, is the fact that Palicoes now have human-language voice acting. Thankfully, there is a way to turn it off.
You Can Set Your Palico’s Language To Felyne In Monster Hunter Wilds
Hearing a Palico speak in English is a little… strange. And it’s safe to say that it caused a lot of discomfort for fans during Monster Hunter Wilds’ incredibly popular open betas. After playing the game, though, we’re happy to report it doesn’t have to be that way.
The easiest way to set your Palico’s voice to Felyne is during the character creator. There is a simple toggle in the design section that lets you turn it on or off.
However, if you’re unfortunate enough to have skipped past that section without changing it, we’ve got you.
In the audio settings of Monster Hunter Wilds, there is a Felyne Language option towards the bottom of the list. Here, you can choose from “Use Set Voice Type” which will match your Palico’s language to that of the characters, or “Felyne Language”. Selecting this option will, of course, allow your Palico to speak in its native tongue, assuaging any discomfort you may be facing in the process.
Unfortunately, Monster Hunter Wilds is making the unpopular decision to include Character Edit Vouchers once again. This means if you want to edit a Palico after creation, you’ll need one of these, and if you’ve used your free ones, you’ll have to pay. If that’s the case, the above option is probably more applicable to you!
Now, go and hunt some monsters with a normal-sounding Palico.
