Wildcards Mode Is Shaking Up Midnight Murder Club with Unpredictable Gameplay
Midnight Murder Club has already showcased a variety of modes during its beta tests, but for a game that blends horror and humor, the introduction of even more ways to break the rules and ramp up unpredictability seems like a natural progression. This is why the new Wildcards game mode is being introduced. In this exciting addition, players can obtain cards that allow them to change the rules of the game per round. “At the start of a Wildcards match, six cards are played that change the rules of the game in fun and weird ways. There are always one or two cards you completely forget are active until they blow up in your face. For instance, I ALWAYS forget when the Fire Trap card is played. Fire Trap makes anyone killed explode into a fireball. This isn’t usually a problem if you’re shooting at someone from a distance, but I always end up running to someone to stab them only for them to explode, lighting me on fire! So there our two bodies lay, engulfed in flames, laughing at each other as we fade out.”
With a wide selection of cards available at the start of each match, the Wildcards mode offers endless possibilities for creating unique and more randomized gameplay experiences. Players no longer need to rely on spoken house rules to make each game different; the cards themselves provide the tools for endless variety. According to Feurstein, there’s also potential for the Wildcards mode to grow, with new cards being added in future updates, provided players respond positively to this game mode:
“We’ll have 24 cards at the launch of Early Access. If people like the mode and want more, we have a ton of new card designs we’d love to update the mode with!”
Furthermore, the collection isn’t limited to those who own the standard copy of Midnight Murder Club. Players using the Guest Pass to join their friends can also maintain their Wildcards collection in their accounts, ensuring their progress isn’t lost when they play in another session or with a different group.
