There are a few ways to change the color of your furniture and displays in Two Point Museum – plenty of items with the round paint palette icon can be changed at your discretion to match the theme of the museum in which you’ve placed them.
Use Sliders To Change The Appearance Of Furniture And Museum Decor
The tutorial levels at your first Prehistory museum are rife with tips on how to decorate your museums to increase the decoration score of each area (which your guests will definitely appreciate). However, with so many themes for museums and tons of furniture that unlocks not only as you progress through the game’s campaign mode, it likely won’t be long before you begin changing the paint color of certain items to match the area they’re placed in.
There are a few ways you can customize the appearance of your furniture and decorations in Two Point Museum, both before and after you’ve purchased and placed them. Thankfully, as long as you don’t sell the item, you won’t need to pay for the customization in any way once it’s placed, allowing you free rein over the vibes of each corner of every museum.
If you’re changing items before you’ve placed a piece of furniture, you’ll want to look for the orange palette icon in the corner of the furniture in your buying catalog. Not every piece of furniture will have it, which means they’re locked into that appearance, but any item with this icon can be customized in some way, so feel free to click into the customization menu to set the color using a hue selector in the form of a circle to get close to the color you’re looking for, then adjust the saturation meter to get just the right shade.
It’s not just items you can paint that have customization options, either – plenty of decorations can take on a different appearance when you interact with the blue paintbrush icon in the bottom right corner of any item in the menu. This allows you to change things like the shapes of rock formations, the exhibits on your banners, the number of animal prints left on the floor, and so much more.
If you want to change something you’ve already placed instead – say you’re redecorating the area or have chosen to go with a different theme than you intended at first – then you’re not out of luck. You can hold to pick up an item, which will open a small menu on your screen displaying information about that item itself.
Along the bottom with several icons for selling or storing this item, you can choose the Customize Furniture button from this row of options. Doing so will open the same hue selector as what you’ll use on items before you place them, so simply re-color your piece and place it back in its original spot with its new coat of paint.
Customizing the appearance of furniture or decoration items doesn’t seem to impact a guest’s opinion of your museum – they care that items are placed and that the area is well-decorated and maintained, but they don’t seem to notice if colors match.
