Not every crop in Stardew Valley is equally valuable, but every crop has a purpose. You can convert vegetables into pickles and juice, fruit into jam and wine, flowers grown around bee houses can improve the quality of their honey, and all of them can appear in various food recipes.
The majority of crop seeds are easy to find: just head over to Pierre’s shop or JojaMart and check out the current season’s seed stocks. However, a few seeds are tucked away in unusual places, and you’ll need to explore Stardew Valley to find them all.

Updated by Usama Ali on Feb 27, 2025: Crops are quite literally your bread and butter in Stardew Valley. They’re how you make money, progress through the game, and even build relationships with the townsfolk. Most crops are seasonal, meaning they can only be grown in specific seasons (Spring, Summer, Fall). Planting them in the wrong season will result in them withering and dying. Each crop has a specific growth time, ranging from a few days to over two weeks. A mix of crops, rather than just the most profitable ones, helps maintain a steady income flow across all seasons. For many players, collecting and growing every crop is a matter of completion and personal satisfaction. We’ve updated this guide with the new crops that were added in Stardew Valley’s 1.6 update so that you can find and grow them all.

Stardew Valley is the kind of game that slowly unfolds as you progress. Here’s how to access every unlockable region.

Ancient Fruit
To get Ancient Fruit, you first need to find the Ancient Seed
artifact. Donating an Ancient Seed to the museum will give you the recipe for Ancient Seeds, which converts the artifact into a plantable seed. Ancient Fruit
:
- Grow during spring, summer, and fall, but wilt in winter.
- Count as fruit (naturally).
- Yield 1 fruit per plant.
- Take 28 days to mature.
- Regrow an additional fruit every 7 days.
Cactus Fruit
You can forage cactus fruit in Calico Desert, but you can also buy cactus seeds and grow them for yourself. Cactus Fruit
:
- Can’t grow outside on the regular farm during any season, but they can grow indoors, in the greenhouse, or on the Ginger Island farm.
- Count as fruit.
- Yield 1 fruit per cactus.
- Take 12 days to mature.
- Regrow an additional fruit every 3 days.
Fiber
The best source of fiber is foraging, but you can also grow special fiber plants on your farm. You can get the Fiber Seed
recipe by completing the Special Order “Community Cleanup.” Fiber:
- Can grow during any season, including winter.
- Yield 4 to 7 Fiber per plant.
- Can also yield Mixed Seeds during the harvest.
- Take 7 days to mature.
Mixed Seeds
Mixed seeds come from cutting down wild plants, tilling special dig locations, and other activities. You can use them to craft Fiber Seeds and Tea Saplings, or you can plant them on your farm and get a random crop for free.
Season/Location |
Possible Results |
---|---|
Spring |
Cauliflower Parsnip Potato |
Summer |
Corn Pepper Radish Wheat |
Fall |
Artichoke Corn Eggplant Pumpkin |
Winter |

Winter and Indoors |
Any of the above |
Ginger Island |
Blueberry Melon Pineapple Rhubarb |
Tea
Tea bushes are effectively a cross between a normal crop and a tree. Unlike regular crops, tea bushes don’t wither, and they don’t need watering. However, they have a very unusual harvesting schedule. To first get the tea sapling recipe, you must get Caroline up to 2 hearts, then use the door in Pierre’s kitchen between 9 am and 5 pm on a sunny day. Tea:
- Can grow during any season, but only produces tea leaves in spring, summer, and fall.
- Counts as a vegetable.
- Yields one leaf per plant per day.
- Takes 20 days to mature, and can mature during winter.
- Grows a harvestable leaf on the 22nd through 28th of every month. This includes winter if the tea bush is indoors, in the greenhouse, or on Ginger Island.
Wild Seeds
Wild seeds are a special category of craftable seeds. You can plant and water them on your farm like normal seeds, but they produce random forage items instead of normal crops. In fact, you get forage experience for harvesting wild seeds. There are four types of wild seed, one for each season, and Winter Seeds are one of the few winter crops in Stardew Valley.

Crafting Cost |

---|---|---|---|
Foraging 1 |

Foraging 4 |

||
Foraging 6 |
1 Blackberry 1 Common Mushroom 1 Hazelnut 1 Wild Plum |
||
Foraging 7 |
1 Crocus 1 Crystal Fruit 1 Snow Yam 1 Winter Root |
In all cases, the forage items used to craft the wild seed type are the same forage items you get once they mature. This means you won’t get Spring Onions or Morels from Spring Seeds, and you won’t get Holly from Winter Seeds.
