When a player sets out on a hunt in Monster Hunter Wilds, they will be given access to a plethora of tools that can help them stay alive until they return victorious. This includes the ability to cook and eat an assortment of meals that give their hunter a variety of buffs to health, stamina, and defense. However, these buffs will only last for so long, and once those buffs disappear, players can often find themselves wondering what they’re supposed to do to beat their target.
Fortunately, there are other ways to reclaim some of these buffs. While it may not be as comprehensive as eating the meals consumed at camp, cooking food on the field can also be a great way to get a little bit of an advantage. This is done by using the meat that can be harvested from killing the smaller monsters scattered around the map. Placing this meat on the BBQ Grill it allows a person to cook the meat for eating, with there being several different ways to cook the meat based on the amount of time spent doing it. This includes the Well-Done Steak, which can be a little tricky to get the timing right, as waiting too long can easily result in a piece of Burnt Meat instead. That is why this guide is here to help players learn how to cook Well-Done Steak to perfection.

How To Cook Well-Done Steak
When a hunter takes out their BBQ Grill to cook, it begins a mini-game of sorts that players will need to master in order to cook their meat the way they want to. This mini-game is all about timing and understanding what is needed in order to get a certain kind of product afterwards.
To cook a Well-Done Steak, players need to follow these steps:
- Take out the portable BBQ Grill and select the option to grill meat. This uses Raw Meat that can be harvested from the smaller monsters running around the game’s map.
- Players will then need to press the interact button at the right time to get the meat cooked properly. This is once the meat has been turned about two times, and when players can see a change in the meat’s color to a deep brown.
- The hunter will go into an animation where they are cutting the meat up into chunks. Players need to press the interact button at every beat of the little tune that plays. Doing this properly will see the hunter get six chunks of Well-Done Steak in their inventory.
Eating a Well-Done Steak will completely recover a player’s health and stamina while also giving each bar a bump to increase their capacity to their maximum.
There are a couple of other ways to cook meat in the game as well, and they each have a different effect on the player:
- Rare Steak: restores health and stamina, and also boosts the health bar for a limited time
- Burnt Meat: can only restore the stamina of the hunter without any healing capabilities
