Monster Hunter Wilds Is Paywalling Character Editing

Nothing quite like having to pay real-life dollars to edit your in-game character.

Jin Dahaad is the ruler of the Iceshard Cliffs, and a monster that you face during the main story; however, you don’t get to defeat it, and repelling it isn’t indicative enough of how hard this fight is in High Rank, so be prepared. Here’s all you need to know about it.

  • Large Iceplate (non-Exposed)

Fire-type Damage

Elemental/Ailment Resistance

Immune to Ice-type Damage

Best Weapon Damage

Jin Dahaad’s massive size makes its breakable parts easier to break, as you have ample ground to hit and probably won’t miss. Keep in mind that the larger iceplates will take a lot to break and they can break two times, so you might need the assistance of skills like Partbreaker. On top of that, you can also break its legs, head, and tail, but you’ll have a better time aiming for the head and the abdominal ice plates, as those are the weakest.

On the elemental side, this monster is immune to Ice and weak to Fire, and slashing damage will be the best choice, so you need to keep that in mind at the moment of assembling your equipment.

Best Equipment To Fight Jin Dahaad

Best Recommended Weapons

  • Firedance Rathmaul
  • Whitefire Rathguard
  • Kut-ku Thwap

Best Recommended Armor

While we include the maximum upgrades of each weapon we recommend, keep in mind that any stage of those weapon’s lines will work.

On the offensive side, Rathalos and Kut-ku are the options to employ, because their weapons have the best elemental damage by far. Since slashing damage goes a bit above bludgeoning, you should have a significantly better time using the Firedance Rathmaul (Rathalos Insect Glaive), the Whitefire Rathguard (Guardian Rathalos Greatsword), and the Kut-ku Thwap (Kut-ku Hammer).

To cover yourself, you should aim for armor sets like the Blangonga armor set, which has one of the best resistances to Ice damage by the point you unlock this fight, or even better, the High Metal set, which has slightly worse resistance, but also provides you the Partbreaker ability if you want to destroy those iceplates.

Jin Dahaad – Fight Breakdown And Moves

The Hunter facing Jin Dahaad in Monster Hunter Wilds.

This fight will occur across different locations on the Iceshard Cliffs, and you must keep that in mind because using the terrain in your favor is a key part of this battle. Every time you get to a new location, you will have the chance to use your clutching claw to drop some Ice boulders on top of the monster, inflicting great damage, and whenever Jin Dahaad climbs atop a ruin, evade its ice beams until the prompt to destroy those ruins appears; this will help the monster fall and cause serious damage.

Regarding the fight itself, Jin Dahaad will use elemental attacks as its main strategy; it can expel an icy cloud that knocks you back, it can provoke waves and circles of Ice damage that will immobilize you in place for a few seconds, and it’ll also cover itself in Ice to inflict more damage. On top of that, it will shoot Ice beams directly at your face if you’re careless, and those can be brutal, so try to stay on its sides.

Jin Dahaad’s ultimate attack comes in the form of an ice storm that will make giant mounds of ice fall into the ground while the monster amasses energy and then triggers an explosion of elemental attack that will, in no uncertain terms, kill you. To avoid this fate, you must keep an eye on the ice mounds that fall while the monster is accumulating energy, and hide behind them before the explosion occurs.
