FragPunk Reveals What’s Coming in Season 1

With launch right around the corner next week, FragPunk reveals everything players can come to expect from the game with the rollout of Season 1. One of 2025’s more interesting new online multiplayer games, FragPunk is a free-to-play 5v5 hero shooter that centers around rule-breaking modifier cards that can dramatically alter gameplay and swing the tides of battle.

Ever since its flashy reveal, FragPunk has captivated multiplayer gaming fans with its loud and bold punk art style and fast-paced FPS combat. Among a sea of other competitive FPS games dominated by the likes of Call of Duty, Apex Legends, and Overwatch, FragPunk aims to stand out with its unique and interesting Shard Card multipliers. These cards seem like a promising mechanic that has the potential to shake things up during FragPunk‘s high-octane multiplayer battles. FragPunk had already rolled out a series of closed beta tests in 2024, where a select few gamers had the chance to try out the game before its full launch this year.

FragPunk Creative Director Talks Competing in the Hero Shooter Genre as a New IP

In an interview with Game Rant, Bad Guitar’s creative director Xin Chang speaks on Fragpunk’s plans to take on the hero shooter scene.

Now, a week away from its full release, FragPunk has gone ahead and revealed its Season 1 launch plans with a new trailer. The game will launch with an impressive 150 Shard Cards, 50 of which have never been seen before in any of FragPunk‘s trailers or playtests. The trailer showcased some of the wacky antics players can get up to with some of FragPunk‘s new Shard Cards. One of them, named Dimensional Travel, allows players to traverse a parallel reality to get a drop on opponents. Another lets players set black hole mine traps, and the Feinting Flash card allows players to create a flashbang effect by dropping their weapon on the ground.

FragPunk Releases New Season 1 Launch Trailer

While they’re at the core of the gameplay experience, FragPunk has more to offer than its 150 Shard Cards. The game will launch with 13 unique Lancers, what the game calls its playable heroes, and each one has their own set of skills that can even be combined with some of the Shard Cards to make for devastating plays. Players will be able to make use of an arsenal of 20 weapons across a total of seven maps at launch. For gamers looking to take a break from the main competitive Shard Clash mode, FragPunk detailed four casual side modes players can choose from, including a mode that resembles Call of Duty‘s Infected named Outbreak, a “one shot, one kill” mode, and sniper and melee-only deathmatch modes.

FragPunk is set to launch on March 6 for Xbox, PlayStation, and PC. Looking ahead beyond Season 1, each FragPunk season will last a total of four months and will receive mid-season refreshes in the name of chapters. Each of these chapters will introduce new maps, Lancers, modes, and, of course, exciting new Shard Cards. Knowing this, FragPunk players should be able to expect Chapter 2 of Season 1 to begin sometime in early May, with Season 2 arriving in July. For now, gamers who take part in FragPunk‘s launch will receive a free weapon skin set and other in-game goodies.
