Dragon Ball Daima finally concluded. Being the last Dragon Ball series with Akira Toriyama’s involvement, this anime was a special one for all the fans of the franchise. And, to be honest, it ended in quite a Toriyama-ish way. The finale started airing in Japan at 11:40 PM (local time), ending past midnight — exactly one year after Toriyama’s death. Coincidence or not, it makes Dragon Ball Daima even more meaningful.
The final episode is visually beautiful, gives the audience some surprises, and opens up space for a possible sequel. While many were expecting Goku or maybe even Gogeta to defeat Gomah, things took a different turn. Read on to learn all about the ending of Daima.

Goku and Vegeta return to their adult form in Dragon Ball Daima, all thanks to Glorio’s last-minute wish from the Demon Realm Porunga.
The Final Battle Against King Gomah
Once Gomah wears the Evil Third Eye, he is able to unlock his insanely powerful Super Giant form. While Goku, Piccolo and Vegeta are kids, they are unable to match Gomah’s power — even when Vegeta turns into SSJ3 and Goku transforms into SSJ4.
By the time Glorio finally asks Shenron to turn them back into adults, they are already tired, and can’t fight with their full powers. As they are taking turns, it’s time for adult Vegeta SSJ3 to try to defeat Gomah, but they all soon realize that Vegeta won’t last long.
Dr. Arinsu asks Majin Kuu to bring a book with information about the Evil Third Eye. She learns that it is possible to remove the eye by striking the user three times in the nape, and relays the message to Goku and Piccolo. Goku then decides to fight Gomah to buy time as Piccolo prepares to attack him from behind and hit him three times in the neck.
The final battle between Goku SSJ4 and Gomah is visually stunning. At one point, Goku hits Gomah with a powerful Kamehameha, opening a huge hole in the demon’s belly. This creates the perfect distraction for Piccolo to try to hit Gomah’s neck. However, after the second hit, Gomah is able to repeal Piccolo and is seemingly about to get even more powerful.
Who Actually Defeated King Gomah?
Gomah was able to take Piccolo down, and then starts to charge, causing an uproar in the Demon Realm. Amidst the confusion, Majin Kuu accidentally ends up right behind him, carrying the huge book he had brought to Dr. Arinsu.
At this moment, he takes advantage of the situation and quickly strikes Gomah three times in his nape. The Evil Third Eye then pops out of Gomah’s forehead, and the group quickly bind him and destroy the eye. That’s it. No fusion or anything of the sort, just Majin Kuu accidentally being in the right place at the right time. A true hero.

Dragon Ball DAIMA Villain’s Surprise Wish Sets Up Finale Battle
Dragon Ball DAIMA finally summoned Demon Realm Porunga, but one villain’s surprise wish has set the stage heading into a season finale.
The New King of the Demon Realm
Following Gomah’s defeat, Marba locks him and Degesu in a jar. The Demon Realm has just lost its king, but it’s about to get a new one. As soon as everyone realizes that Majin Kuu defeated the previous king, he proclaims himself to be the new Supreme Demon King. Dr. Arinsu is now “Vice Supreme Demon King” and Neva, Marba, Majin Duu, Glorio and King Kadan are all appointed as ministers.
Neva invites Dende to live in the Demon Realm. While he declines the offer, he says that he will inform wandering Nameks about it, so they can go to the Demon Realm if they wish to. It’s time for the Dragon Team to finally get back home.
What about Super Saiyan 4 in Daima?
During the episode, Goku gives a brief explanation about his SSJ4 transformation, when questioned by Vegeta (who calls his own SSJ3 form “the Ultra Vegeta #1”). Goku replies that he trained a lot after the Buu Saga, since Buu was too strong, but he didn’t know if it would work. The Vegeta says that it looks like “a Super Saiyan bargain sale”, but nothing that would explain why he hasn’t used it in Dragon Ball Super.
Is A Dragon Ball Daima Sequel Coming?
During the journey back to Earth, Goku asks Glorio to stop by the shop they went to in Episode 4, where they bought Medi Bugs. There, they find two more editions of the Evil Third Eye for sale, setting the stage for either Season 2 or a brand new Daima series, but nothing more concrete has been announced.
Dragon Ball Daima is available to stream on Crunchyroll and Hulu (simulcast). Episode 20 will hit Netflix and other services next week.
