Blizzard has quietly extended Diablo 4‘s Season 7, known as the Season of Witchcraft. Players had previously expected Diablo 4‘s Season 7 to finish on April 15, but it has been pushed slightly beyond that by Blizzard.
Diablo 4‘s Season 7 started on January 21, with a big focus on Witchcraft Powers to add a new dynamic to combat builds. As with any new Season, this also came with a new questline, as well as a new type of Gem in the form of Occult Gems. There was plenty for players to enjoy in the update, even if some fans were unhappy about some omissions in Diablo 4‘s Season 7. The update has mostly kept fans satisfied until this point, and it will need to do so for a little while longer than expected.

Diablo 4 Breaking its Expansion Release Promise Can’t Be For Nothing
Reports claim that Diablo 4 is not sticking to its yearly expansion plans, which is hopefully more promising than it first sounds.
It was initially noticed by some players online that the end date for Season 7 of Diablo 4 had been pushed from April 15 to April 29 when checking in-game. The delay was later officially confirmed by Blizzard’s Rod Fergusson, who claims that “Season 8 will take a couple of weeks longer to bake than we initially anticipated.” While it’s unfortunate that players will have to remain on Season 7 for a short while longer, Fergusson did leave fans with an intriguing tease, saying that he’s “Looking forward to seeing an old “friend.””
Diablo 4 Extends Season 7 Until April 29
Unfortunately, it’s not the first Diablo 4 deadline Blizzard has missed in recent memory. The developer recently confirmed that Diablo 4‘s second expansion has slipped into 2026, already missing its pledge to release one major expansion for the game per year. It’s sad, but this has always been part of the nature of live service games like this. Hopefully, the wait for Season 8 and everything it brings to Diablo 4 proves to be worth the wait.
While it’s understandable that fans might be frustrated at Diablo 4 missing deadlines like this, it’s worth mentioning that the game should be supported for a substantial amount of time in the future. Blizzard continues to release Seasons for Diablo 3, which is currently in the middle of Season 34. If Diablo 4 is afforded the same level of support for years to come, then a couple of weeks here and there will feel like nothing in the grand scheme of things.
