You heard it here first – the console wars are over. Okay, you probably didn’t hear it here first, and actually they’re not really over, but the landscape is changing. Xbox published games have slowly been making their way to other platforms, but the latest title to be making the jump to PS5 is the biggest yet. Forza Horizon 5, the latest installment in a racing series that is unequivocally Xbox, is coming to PlayStation.

Unlike some of the other former Xbox exclusives to come to different platforms, the wait for a PS5 release date for Forza Horizon 5 after the initial announcement wasn’t a long one. Forza will come to PlayStation for the first time on April 29, 2025, with four days of early access depending on which edition you pre-order. They might still be rivals, but even PlayStation knows Forza Horizon 5 coming to PS5 is a big deal, even if it won’t say it out loud. That’s why the Xbox port has three editions to choose from. If you just want to play the Xbox published racing game on PS5, you can pick up the standard edition. If you want the car pass, which adds 42 more vehicles to the game, then there’s the deluxe edition.

For $100 you can get the premium edition. Not only does that include the base game and the car pass, but it also comes with the Hot Wheels and Rally Adventure expansions, a welcome pack, VIP membership, and the early access I mentioned above. Those who pre-order the premium edition will be able to start playing Forza Horizon 5 on PS5 from April 25 instead of having to wait until April 29.

With Forza Horizon 5, Playground Games takes its open-world racing game to a fictional version of Mexico, containing plenty of races, missions, and collectibles to be found. It adds local weather fronts for more diversity, more than 600 vehicles, and the return of the Eliminator battle royale mode.

Forza Horizon 5 Will Get A Big Update On All Platforms On April 25

Existing Players Have Not Been Forgotten

Xbox and the Forza devs haven’t forgotten about the game’s OG players. On the same day that early access begins on PS5, Forza Horizon 5 will get its Horizon Realms update across all platforms, potentially its biggest update yet. Horizon Realms will bring back 11 of the game’s limited time Evolving World locations with a 12th brand new location thrown in for good measure. A great way for older players to experience them again, but also a chance for new players, of which there will be a lot, to try them out for the first time.

Forza Horizon 5 comes to PS5 on April 29, 2025, with early access beginning on April 25. It’s available now on Xbox Series X|S and PC and is included with Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.
