Pick The Right Swing Input For You
The first choice you make when loading up PGA Tour 2K25 is your Swing Input setting, but you can change it at any time. You can swing your club using a three button press system, or by moving one of the two thumb sticks on your controller vertically down and then up again.
If you’re struggling with whatever setting you’re using – with it proving hard to swing straight consistently- you could try switching to another input option to see if it helps. One might feel far more natural to you than another.
Select The Right Shot Type
The shot type recommended by the game might not always be the best option for the situation you’re in or the lie of your ball.
Around the greens, a flop shot may be far more useful than a chip, allowing you to stop the ball dead by lofting it high into the air. Elsewhere, you may have to punch the ball out from below low tree branches or splash the ball out of a bunker.
The shot type you should choose is entirely down to the location of your ball on the hole and the distance to the pin, and you’ll learn the best ways to play shots in time. The best thing to do is think about your shot type before each and every shot you take.
Swing Smoothly
This is easier said than done in PGA Tour 2K25, but swinging straight and smoothly will affect your swing more than anything else.
Really do everything you can to ensure your backswing is directly down and your upswing is directly up. If you’re naturally swinging left or right, do all you can to counter it.
When using Swing Stick, and once we’d aimed properly, we found it easier to look at the thumbstick while swinging to try and keep the line as smooth and straight as possible.
Pay Attention To The Wind
On the higher swing difficulty settings, wind plays a huge role in the direction of your shot. When hitting into a head wind, you need to use a longer club and aim past the hole, as the wind will push the ball towards you as it flies. You’ll also want to club down if the wind is going towards the hole, so that you don’t wildly overshoot.
Also, when the wind is blowing horizontally, you need to aim left or right of the hole to counter its impact.
The higher the difficulty you play on, the stronger the wind will be, but you can see the direction and strength indicator at the top of the screen.
Take Advantage Of Spin
Spin isn’t just something to use around the greens to stop the ball quickly or impressively roll the ball back into the cup from beyond it, spin is something that can be used to your advantage in various ways.
When driving down long fairways, you can add topspin to your shot to make it roll further after it lands, extending your drive distance. You can also use backspin to ensure you don’t roll off short greens.
While a topspin drive will show a shorter carry distance, the roll-out will lead to a longer drive overall.
Upgrade Skills In Areas You Struggle
Throughout your MyCareer season, you’ll be earning VC and levelling up your pro’s stats. However, the best way to improve your swing is to spend skill points and increase your stats in the areas you struggle.
If you find it hard to hit the ball as far as you’d like, or your connection is often not very good, you should unlock new skills in those areas. That will make you more well-rounded and help you in the areas you struggle with. You can then start to build up your stats in the other areas.
