Why Is Momoshiki Otsutsuki Considered So Underrated In The Naruto Verse?
Does Momoshiki Deserve More Spotlight?
Before we break down Momoshiki’s role as a villain, let’s take a look at his origin first. Momoshiki Otsutsuki is a part of the Otsutsuki clan, and he was sent on a mission to investigate and find Kaguya as well as her God Tree. His clan was famous for having members with godly power.
Momoshiki was strong enough to put up a fight with both Sasuke and Naruto while they were at their full potential. Yes, he did eventually lose, but the fight against him was not exactly a piece of cake for our heroes. He has a lot of powerful abilities and is incredibly fast and strong, as demonstrated when he effortlessly knocked Naruto out of the Chunin Exams arena.
If we’re talking about monsters, then that makes the two of us – Momoshiki Otsutsuki
While it is true that when it comes to physical prowess, Momoshiki is significantly behind compared to other villains, his other abilities make up for it. His most powerful ability is definitely his chakra-absorbing power.
After he consumed Kinshiki, his powers became a lot more devastating and allowed him to beat four Kage Kurotsuchi, Chojuro, Darui, and Gaara at the same time. He was also able to hold up a strong fight against Naruto and Sasuke while they were using their six paths chakra.
Powers And Brain
Momoshiki did not just have godly power, but he was also a great strategist. He went to the battles with full preparation and planned his moves carefully when going against his enemies. Momoshiki was very well aware of the fact that facing Naruto wouldn’t be that easy, so he had to wait for the perfect moment to execute his plan.
You should be honored. You will become part of the Otsutsuki legacy. The chakra you have will soon be mine, and with it, I will achieve god-like power. You won’t even be remembered. – Momoshiki Otsutsuki
A great and commendable display of his smartness is during the Chunin exams when Momoshiki and Kinshiki attacked Naruto when he was not paying attention due to being surrounded by civilians. Even in the most intense moments, he stayed calm, unlike Kaguya who panicked in the face of danger.
When he was defeated and killed, his spirit managed to plant a Karma on the right palm of Boruto. The Karma served as a backup plan for the Otsutsuki clan, setting Momoshiki up for potential resurrection in the future. No brainless villain in the face of death can make a calm decision as Momoshiki did and surprisingly, people rarely talk about it.

Redemption arcs can be great for both character and plot development, but giving too many slaps on the wrist can ruin a good story.
Momoshiki Deserves More Recognition
Momoshiki doesn’t get as much recognition as the other villains in Naruto and there could be many reasons as to why. First, while he was a great strategist, many villains like Madara and Itachi were way better. In terms of just power alone, many villains in the Narutoverse can easily outshine him.
Yet he deserves more spotlight than he gets just because of the sheer influence he has on Boruto’s overall storyline. If it wasn’t for Momoshiki Boruto wouldn’t have a Karma seal on his hand. And many people forget that Momoshiki is still a part of the story as long as the seal remains intact. How things will play out in the future will reveal how smart this move was by Momoshiki.
