The big monsters are the appeal of the Monster Hunter series, but they’re far from the only beasts in this world. Monster Hunter Wilds puts a renewed focus on the endemic life in the Forbidden Lands, and it just so happens that quite a few of its researchers enlist your help in documenting them.

Monster Hunter: The 12 Biggest Monsters In The Series, Ranked
A major staple of the Monster Hunter series is the inclusion of gigantic beasts for players to defeat, and here is a look at the biggest ones.
Except while the large monsters are, well, quite large and tracked on the map, endemic life is not. These guys are tiny, found anywhere and everywhere in the map if you know where to luck. And one of the first you’ll be tasked with finding is the rather skittish Tracktail Lizard. So let’s discover just where they’re hiding.
How To Start Dareel’s Research Report
You are actually free to collect endemic life from the moment the game begins, though you won’t get any major rewards for doing so. And even if you have discovered a certain endemic creature before, you’ll have to capture them anew for this quest. In Dareel’s case, it is the Tracktail Lizard of the Windward Plains he wishes for you to find.
This quest can be picked up from the Windward Plains base camp after you’ve dealt with Rey Dau, and it will be shown on the world map as well that there is a quest available to you. Just speak with him to pick it up.
Where To Find A Tracktail Lizard In Monster Hunter Wilds
Sadly, Dareel is not any more informative than that. It’s in the Windward Plains is all, which is rather vague for such a large region. To be more specific, Tracktail Lizards can be found in the desert sections of the Windward Plains, and are most often found in a pair together.
They are quite small though, and run at the first sight of you so make sure to approach them quietly, and wear the Ghillie Mantle if you need to. The easiest location to find them in is around the Oasis. Simply equip the Capture Net and fire it from the Slinger to capture them.
The weather can also have an impact on the Tracktail Lizard appearing, as they are much rare during the Sandtitde. Try to find them during the Fallow and Plenty instead.
After they have been caught, return to Dareel to get your reward, and the attention of yet another dissatisfied researcher.
