If there was any doubt Poogie was making a return in Monster Hunter Wilds: have no fear. Everyone’s favorite oinker is alive and well in the Forbidden Lands – you just have to know where to look. This guide includes everything you need to know about Poogie in Monster Hunter Wilds.
Who Is Poogie?
Poogie is a little pig with a big attitude who has appeared in almost every Monster Hunter game to date. The big ham has had various roles over the years, ranging from decoration to mini-games, to even appearing in hunt quests in Monster Hunter Frontier. Everyone loves Poogie, even if Poogie doesn’t always love you back.
Some people believe petting Poogie can help you acquire rare monster parts more easily. Whether petting him actually increases your luck is unconfirmed, but it certainly can’t hurt to try!
Sadly, Poogie was absent from the previous MonHun game, Monster Hunter Rise, only appearing as a trophy to decorate your room with. Fans certainly felt like little guy’s absence, so it’s a good thing Poogie has returned in Monster Hunter Wilds.
Is Poogie In Monster Hunter Wilds?
If you’re just starting the game, it will be quite a few hours before you make contact with Poogie. The divine swine can be found at Suja, Peaks of Accord, the home of the Allhearken. You will find your way to the narrow winding base camp in Chapter 3-3: Through the Dusk. This is also where you will be introduced to Vio the Melder and learn about decoration melding.
Poogie likes to hang out in different places around Suja, depending on the time of day.
- In the morning and afternoon you can usually find Poogie wandering around the south end of camp near Vio.
- When Poogie wants to take a nap, he’ll head to the north end where Tetsuzan is resting.
Look for the little pig icon on your mini-map if you’re having trouble tracking down the truffle tike.
What Does Poogie Do?
When you interact with Poogie you’ll be given two options: pet and rename. You can rename Poogie anything you’d like as long as it’s under 15 characters and doesn’t include anything profane or illegal.
Petting Poogie is actually a mini-game you can play to earn an item. When you select pet, your hunter will kneel down and caress the little pig’s face. As soon as you see a pink exclamation point appear over Poogie’s head, press the pet button again.
Poogie will jump in the air with hearts appearing around it, and you’ll be rewarded with a random item. Repeatedly petting Poogie won’t give you additional items, but you can periodically return to Suja between hunts to pet Poogie again.
If you fail to press the pet button at the right time, Poogie will get angry, knock your hunter over, and leave the area. Poogie won’t return unless you fast-travel to another region and return to Suja. When you come back you can play the mini-game again.
