Tracktail Lizard Location in Monster Hunter Wilds

Tracktail Lizard Location in Monster Hunter Wilds

Monster Hunter Wilds will occasionally toss some optional side missions your way that you can complete for useful rewards. Honestly, some of the early quests are more meant as glorified tutorials, but they are still great to check out to learn as much as possible about the world of MH Wilds.

After reaching Chapter 3-1, Born from the Flame, you can speak to Dareel at the Plains Base Camp. If your current objective is to Talk to Rosso, you’ll find Dareel in the tent right behind him.

Speaking to Dareel will kick off the ‘Dareel’s Research Report‘ Side Mission, asking hunters to catch a Tracktail Lizard.

Where are Tracktail Lizards in Monster Hunter Wilds?

We managed to find two pairs of Tracktail Lizards while exploring Area 13 of the Plains, specifically near the entrance/exit of Area 16 (north of Area 13). But be careful, these critters are fast to scurry away if you get to close to them.

Just try to come at them from behind and crouch before you aim your capture net. You don’t need to get super close to them. Also worth pointing out that you only have to catch one Tracktail Lizard, so you let the other one run away if they must.

You can equip your Capture Net from the Item Bar and aim at a target. Once you’re ready, use the left trigger/right stick and press the right trigger to fire. The creature will then be sent to the Expedition Command Camp. It’s also worth noting you can use the Capture Net as many times as you like.

  • The researcher’s notes for Tracktail Lizards are as follows:

    • Endemic creatures that are native to the Windward Plains -particularly its deserts. Their unusual tails allow them to sit upright and assess their surroundings or shield themselves from the hot sun. Their tails leave a mark in the sand, resembling a large monster’s footprint when they sit. They typically travel in pairs to watch each other’s backs while doing things like drinking water.
