Ground/Grass-type Toedscool and Toedscruel are likely to be mistaken for regional variants of Tentacool and Tentacruel. However, like Wiglett and Wugtrio, they are an entirely different species. With returning and new Grass and Ground-type Pokemon in Scarlet & Violet, you may be wondering if Toedscruel is a good Pokemon to use in battle or raids. Toedscool and Toedscruel aren’t rare in Scarlet & Violet, so you’ll have plenty of time to decide whether to keep them in the party.

Where to Find Toedscool in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet
Toedscool Location
Toedscool can be found in the South, East, and West Provinces hanging around tree trunks in their respective habitats. Because they’re such common Pokemon, you’ll want to narrow your search to make finding them easier. You should look for Toedscool in the following locations:

If you want Toedscool somewhat early in your playthrough, you should search for them in East Province (Area Two). They’re also ideal for Levincia’s gym battle, which specializes in Electric-type Pokemon. You should take a Flying Taxi to the watch tower on the hill near Levincia’s southern exit.
If you’re near Medali, you’ll find a variety of Pokemon roaming about the area outside the city. Among these are Toedscool, and they’re at a higher level than their East Province-counterparts. The Toedscool in this area are above their evolution level, so you can simply level them up one more time to trigger the evolution.
Finally, Socarrat Trail, which is north of Casseroya Lake, is full of Bug and Grass-types. However, at this point in your playthrough, you may already have a Grass-type on your team.
In short:
- Toedscools in East Province (Area Two) near the watchtower outside Levincia are around level 19.
- Toedscools near Medali are around level 34.
- Toedscool on Socarrat Trail are the highest-level Toedscools you’ll find in Paldea, being around level 54.
You can also get Toedscool from 1-star Tera Raids. These will be available as soon as you begin your Treasure Hunt. Pokemon caught from 1-star Tera Raids will be level 12, and their Tera Typing may not match their base Typing. Meaning you could end up with a Toedscool that has an Electric Tera Type instead of Ground or Grass.
How to Evolve Toedscool into Toedscruel
Where to Find Toedscruel
If you want Toedscruel, you’ll need to evolve Toedscool. Toedscool evolves into Toedscruel at level 30. As mentioned earlier, you may already have a Toedscool that’s above its evolution level if you caught one near Medali or Socarrat Trail. Level it up once via Rare Candy or Exp. Candy to make it a Toedscruel.
Toedscruel Locations (Paldea and Kitakami)
You can also catch Toedscruel in the wild. Unlike Toedscool, Toedscruel only appears in one area in Paldea, and that’s Socarrat Trail. You’ll find Toedscruel surrounded by Toedscools.
If you bought the Expansion Pass, then you can look for Toedscruels in Kitakami:
- There’s a fixed spawn Toedscruel in the Kitakami Wilds that’s level 36. If you’ve completed “The Way Home” main quest, then it will instead be level 69.
- The other fixed spawn Toedscruel is in the Timeless Woods. This one’s level is 52, or 73 if you completed “The Way Home.”
Like Toedscool, Toedscruel can be found in Tera Raids. They only appear in 4-star and 6-star Tera Raids. 4-star Tera Raids unlock when you have 7 gym badges; 6-star Tera Raids appear when you’ve completed the Academy Ace Tournament in the post-game.

Is Toedscruel Worth Using?
Toedscruel being a Ground/Grass-type means it has some more type coverage that regular Grass and Ground-type don’t have. However, it also gains more weaknesses. Its dual-typing makes it extremely weak to Ice-type moves, so you’ll want to keep it away from those as much as you can.

Toedscruel doesn’t have a very high Attack or Special Attack base stat. However, if you want to use it offensively, you should give it special moves such as Sludge Bomb or Energy Ball. On the plus side, Toedscruel has great Special Defense and Speed, essentially making it a speedy, special wall. Therefore, if you want a Pokemon that has high Special Defense and Speed with only four type weaknesses, then you may want to consider Toedscruel.
Toedscruel only has one Ability, and that’s Mycelium Might. This allows a user’s status move to hit the target regardless of the target’s own Ability (ex: Big Pecks). On the downside, if Toedscruel uses a status move, it will always move after the opponent.
