Another version of one of the current meta’s most disruptive cards.

As expected, the expansion will focus heavily on Arcues, with the God Pokemon featured on the front of the booster packs, and as an ex card in the set.

The Pokemon Company and DeNA confirmed that Triumphant Light will be released on February 28, 2025.

While Arceus ex will certainly be the star of the show, disrupting the meta with its Fabled Luster ability and Ultimate Force attack, the expansion will contain multiple other cards capable of taking the limelight.

Leafeon ex could become a staple of the already prominent Grass-type decks, with its Forest Breath ability allowing it to attach an additional Grass-type energy to a Pokemon each turn. Probopass ex will be right at home in Steel-type decks, and Glaceon ex’s Snowy Terrain ability, which deals 10 damage to every opponent’s active Pokemon each turn, could become a nuisance.

Arguably the most interesting change to the mobile TCG comes in the form of new “Link” abilities. Multiple non-ex cards in the set have abilities such as “Speed Link” and “Power Link”. The abilities buff the Pokemon that has them, provided Arceus or Arceus ex is in your active play area. These abilities are one of the biggest shake-ups to the competitive side of the game so far.

So far, we’ve seen Abomasnow with Vigor Link, which makes attacks cost one less energy, Magnezone and Raichu with Resiliance Link, which means the Pokemon take 30 less damage, Crobat with Cunning Link, which allows you to deal 30 damage to the opponents active Pokemon once per turn, Rotom and Heatran with Speed Link, which removes their retreat cost, and Tyranitar and Carnevine with Power Link, which buffs the Pokemon’s attacks by 30 damage.

Alongside these Pokemon, that have come from a mixture of leaks and the official trailer, a handful of new trainers have been revealed. Irida will heal 40 damage from any Pokemon with a Water-type energy attached, while Adaman offers -20 damage to all Steel-type Pokemon during the opponent’s next turn.

With all of this in mind, the next phase of the meta looks exciting.

The livestream also confirmed that ranked matches are coming to the game next month.
