The Pokemon Company has revealed that Pokemon Champions and Pokemon Legends: Z-A will have Latin American Spanish language support from day one. The announcement comes after Latin American fans have called for mainline Pokemon titles to have this feature for years. According to Tomás Cortijo, LATAM regional director for TCP International, all future Pokemon mainline products will support Latin American Spanish at launch. Moreover, TCP reassured that upcoming Pokemon TCG expansions will also be available in the language. The Latin American Pokemon fanbase is a large one, and it seems TCP intends to keep strengthening its connection to the region in the future. Recently, The Pokemon Company announced a partnership with Gamescom LATAM to bring exclusive Pokemon activities to the expo.
Pokemon Champions, Pokemon Legends Z-A, and Pokemon TCG Will Have Latin American Spanish Language Support
Having more localization options in games can be an important milestone for the Pokemon community. Players might remember when Pokemon GO launched Latin American Spanish support after eight years, as the game hosted a large event in celebration. It is worth noting that various Pokemon terms greatly differ between Spanish and LATAM fanbases. For example, the Unova region is known by the same name in Latin America, while players from Spain know it as Teselia. Now, by adding Latin American Spanish support to the franchise’s main titles, the LATAM Pokemon community can hopefully relate better to the games and have a better gameplay experience.
An exciting chapter is coming for Pokemon fans in 2025. Aside from Pokemon Champions, mobile players can look forward to a new Pokemon TCG Pocket expansion on February 28. On the other hand, Pokemon Legends Z-A has confirmed its release window for late 2025, transporting players back to the Kalos region for a new adventure.
