A Pokemon fan took to social media to share a Mega Typhlosion art concept created by their significant other, which showed a potential Mega Evolution form for the popular Johto Starter critter. The Pokemon fan and their partner were complimented for their effort and attention to detail on the Mega Typhlosion concept art.
Known by nicknames like the Volcano and the Ghost Flame Pokemon, Typhlosion first appeared in Pokemon Gold and Silver. Typhlosion is the final evolution of Cyndaquil and Quilava and is normally a pure Fire-type Starter. Quilava evolves into Typhlosion at level 36. In Pokemon Legends: Arceus, Typhlosion received a Hisuian regional variant, where it gained the Ghost type as its secondary type. The original and Hisuian Typhlosion are known for their high special attack and speed stats. Typhlosion can be obtained in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet by catching a Cyndaquil in the Terarium’s Polar Biome and evolving it via levels.

With the upcoming Pokemon Legends: Z-A confirming the return of Mega Evolution as the main battle gimmick, a Pokemon fan shared what Typhlosion’s Mega form could look like. On the r/Pokemon subreddit, a user named Knistern shared a Mega Typhlosion concept their partner created. Knistern said that since their partner, Kaeos_Art, is not a Redditor, they shared the Mega Typhlosion art concept on her behalf. Mega Typhlosion was given the Fire and Electric dual-typing and had design elements borrowed from its original and Hisuian forms. Mega Typhlosion’s shoulder flames were red, pink, and purple on the outside, with a yellow-white glow closer to Typhlosion’s body. Its flames also extended to its legs and away from its body. Mega Typhlosion’s fur retained the dark blue and gold colors of its Johtonian form, with additional bristles across its back and tail.

A Mega Evolution symbol was placed above its head to signify its power. Beyond its Fire and Electric types, no information about Mega Typhlosion’s stats, abilities, or moves was posted. Although Hisuian Typhlosion was already part of Pokemon Legends: Arceus, that has not stopped trainers from hoping for the Volcano Pokemon to return to the franchise. In response to Kaeos_Art’s handiwork, some Pokemon fans thanked Knistern for posting on her behalf and said that Mega Typhlosion’s pink flames and pose gave it a menacing and battle-ready appearance.
The post came just a day before the annual Pokemon Day festivities, with a Pokemon Presents episode scheduled to air at 9:00 AM Eastern. It remains to be seen what surprises Pokemon fans are in for.
